Hey there... to those making cultures: We have a new step involved in this process and it would be GREATLY appreciated if this new step would be respected as a must when adding new cultures. In fact, I'm already out of date with the most recent cultures added...

I now have Culture combat classes. There's a tutorial that should be very easy to follow on making combat classes linked to on the first page of the modders documentation thread. There's something like 5 files that need to be manipulated to add a combat class but it's quite easily done. There's no NEED to put them in any particular order in those files but I have managed to keep all cultural CCs in alphabetic order so far.

In addition to the information in the tutorial, you should understand that on my next update, units will automatically pick up their cultural combat class provided that the culture bonus is listed as their <BonusType>. So far it looked to me that all units that had a cultural bonus prerequisite had this tag listing their cultural prerequisite so if we can just keep to that standard we'll be alright.

There's also an additional tag in use on Cultural Combat Classes that indicates that same culture bonus that allows the mechanism to connect the dots and auto-assign the culture CC to the cultural unit. This tag on the Combat Class info is <CultureType>. Thus, the cultural CCs are listed in the UnitCombatInfos.xml file as follows:
Code:
		<UnitCombatInfo>
			<Type>UNITCOMBAT_CULTURE_ABORIGINE</Type>
			<Description>TXT_KEY_UNITCOMBAT_CULTURE_ABORIGINE</Description>
			<CultureType>BONUS_ABORIGINE</CultureType>
			<Button>Art/Interface/Buttons/promotions/Diplomat.dds</Button>
		</UnitCombatInfo>

This step will be critical for establishing that:
1) Once we have 1D properties and cities have evolving cultural dominance factors in the city and units take on the Cultural CC of the strongest culture in the city in which they are trained, this automatic assignment will override this intended feature.

2) Cultural equipments and other potential cultural skill promotions will be based on Culture CCs for prerequisite access for units to take these.

3) Eventually, once nations can declare a culture, if its units are of cultures other than the nation's culture, they may begin to grow resentful of their government. They may end up rebelling, or simply maintaining a lower morale once the morale system is established.

Since I want to get to all these wonderful projects, a little help to keep the structures I've put in place with Cultural CCs would be exceedingly appreciated or I'm going to keep being a dog chasing his tail trying to keep them updated myself!

Here are the buttons, one again, decided that the Anasazi symbol is better as a Zuni symbol. replacement button is in the pack:

I disagree wth the 20th century fashion tech, because Ostrich Feathers were prized since ancient times. I did make it so that it can built anywhere in the empire.

A couple of prehistoric wonders added recently bug me one gives a free storage pit and the other gives a free bone carver building in all cities. Both go obsolete at Sedentary Lifestyle which is too early if you are bee-lining it.

Personally I prefer wonders that give free buildings not go obsolete until the building they give goes obsolete.

Actually having wonders giving free buildings is a double edge sword when it can be obsolete.
Using bts Stonehenge as example, it grants free monuments in all cities.
However, this prevents cities from building real monuments.

When Stonehenge goes obsolete, the free ones are gone, while real ones remain.
Real monuments will still generate culture.
Similarly, obsolete monasteries still allow training of missionaries.

Thus, in the long run, these freebies may be bad rather than good

We have some of those ...

Somalia = Somali
Ethiopia = Ethiopian
Madagascar = Merina

Also ...

Guatemala = Sorta is represented by the Maya but it could see it as a colonial culture.

I think for now we should be trying to fill in the ones we have. Like the new Ones I have not even made Wonders for them. The biggest problem is not overlapping resource requirement.

In addation the following cultures on the list we already have ...

- Parthian (Europe)
- Zapotec (north American)
- Choson (Asia) middle age Korea
- Swahili (Africa)
- Mali (Africa)
- Fiji (Oceania)
- New Guinea (Oceania)
- Scotland (Europe)
- Morocco (Africa)
- Jamaica (south America)
- Rhodesia (Africa)
- Taiwan (Asia) 21st century

You should really check over the culture resources to see the full list.

DDS format is an inferior format for wonder movies as they don't display what the wonder provides. BIK is much better and you can convert using to bink format from most graphics formats using radtools. It is share ware.
