Hi,

Everythings installed and works fine, but when I complete a Wonder the movie freezes (stays blacked out), the sound staggers and I end up back at desktop with a Low Virtual Memory warning or I have to force a reboot!!

However, religion movies are fine.

Question is - can I turn off Wonder Movies, I'm sure you could in previous versions of Civ??

Go to your sid mieir's civ 4 folder and double click on the shortcut
_Civ4Config. This will open up the configuration.ini file in notepad. To turn off the in game movies scroll down until you see the lines below. Change the 0 to 1, save changes and you should be good to go.

; Set to 1 for no in-game movies
NoMovies = 0

Good Luck!

edit --- Another movie fix others and myself have tried is to replace the binkw32.dll file in the Sid Mieir's Civilization 4 Folder with one from Age of Empires III (or it's free demo). That smoothed out about 80% of my movie stuttering. I'd rename the old one (I just added "old at the end of its name) and then copy over this one. It may help. If it doesn't just undo the process.

nice one Swiftfoot, i've done that and will give it a try later....;)

i'm surprised there wasn't a toggle in the Options menu, and i didn't fancy trying to win without wonders as i've had to do up til now....

thanks for responding:goodjob:

No worries! :)

I don't have a high level of tech expertise but when I can help I do.

I myself am running fairly stable with the odd sound stutter in the intro and wonder movies but changing the binkw32.dll helped immensely. Still there to a degree but no crashes. Only real problem I've had was big time lag when running a Huge Map with all 18 Civs and that didn't kick in until about 1400AD... so I can't complain much.

Enjoy!
