Wonder Stategy Article: Pyramids

1) Happiness is no longer an issue once you get the wonder, providing you adopt HR or representation.

Do people really build the mids for HR? I have only done it once when I was isolated, industrious and had stone.

For me, the pyramids is all about representation and specialists.

ask monthy. he switches to police state in the next turn :)

That's my fav. :goodjob:

Add a Engineer Spec via Forge, stick in National Epic, and roll out the GE's...

I think i'll try that next game.

I just wish we had an IND / PHI leader for this one wonder ....

Pyramids, pop a GE, rush Glib, go go GS flood =D

In my recent games as Pericles, I cant afford Oracle, Pyramids and Glib on higher difficulties, even on isolated starts :(

I'm trying to master spamming discount Libs and Universities with an Epic GS econonomy. Need to Slingshot CoL with Oracle for Caste System, Glib and Oxford in your city with highest food output and run as many Scientists as possible, and you get so so many GS's =D If you get one of those nice 4-6 food capitals with Pericles, forget about academies, settle every GS after the first and make sure to get Glib and Oxford up as soon as you can. Pyramids would just break that like crazy.

I need to try and somehow mix Pyramids into there as well, but its too hard without IND, plus you rarely get both Marble and Stone without cheating.

Zeus is mostly a denial wonder.

I lurve this wonder for keeping other peoples culture out of my lands. Its the cheapest early 10:culture: by far if you have Ivory and doubles in plenty of time for the game end.

Mind you I do get a lot of close border Cr4p from the AIs as a result :D

The WW thing is just a bonus.

In all my times of playing I've built the Pyramids twice I think, and one time I was just wonder spamming on a lower level difficulty, both times I forgot to change civics. :P I've always thought it too much a cost of expansion to build in the capital, and a second city for the stone to be too tough to pull off. Well I rolled a game as Qin and had stone nearby, so I got it in a second city which was nice. Expanded more and put in scientists with representation and was blown away at the tech rate. Ran the slider at 0 for a long time while getting tons of techs and GPs. Got Parthenon and GLib as well. Was actually amazed at getting the Parthenon I figured it'd have been snagged from me, but I found out later why. No wonder builders at all in this game.

Big thing for me about wonders is fitting them in. In the early game I feel stressed enough trying to claim enough land to be successful that building wonders seems too risky.

From Voice of Unreason in the Strategy Article Wonders Thread. I thought it good to go here for more discussion fodder.

If my GP farm has such bad production I'd likely consider using the GE for the NE over the Glib. Of course production being soooo piss poor it will take 30+ turns to build either is different from just wanting to win a wonder race in a mediocore hammer city.

I cannot stop trying it when I see stone nearby...
the game become a lot easier when we have it.
