Other - The National Mall.

There a quite a number of natural wonders that I would not at all mind seeing. Like Milford Sound or perhaps even unique deserts (Sahara) or jungles (Amazon). I feel there's more potential for adding natural wonders than for world wonders.

True thing, specially when GnK added only 4 of them, and they were all religion-related mountains.

I voted for most of them, actually. I'd especially like to see the Sphinx and Mount Rushmore. As for "other," I'd like to see the Hurva Synagogue and the World Trade Center

As I said in the OP, there are many "skyscraper wonders" to choose from
I'm not sure if they qualify as a wonder though
Even if they do, probably there are quite a couple better choices than the World Trade Center

Hardly. The other skyscraper wonders, including the Empire State Building, which you included in your poll, are just tall buildings. The World Trade Center, on the other hand, while a bunch of buildings with a bunch of businesses in them, like all of the other ones, is significant because of what happened as a result of its destruction. The Empire State Building can't claim that. Neither can the Burj Khalifa.

The Empire State Building is different from the modern skycrapers IMO
It's connection to the great depression makes it far more unique than the other skycrapers

Also, this is way more significant than the destruction of the WTC
About the consequences of it: I don't want to get into politics at all, but the USA would have easily found another reason to get more involved in the middle eastern oil business
The destrucion of the WTC towers was only a casus belli, nothing more

I'm against skyscrapers, personally. For one, they are driven by business, the building of a Wonder should reflect the emotional and spiritual connection to the builder. The various religious Wonders overwhelm with the pageantry of fidelity to the builder's faith. Later Wonders display the optimism of science and technology. Skyscrapers display the ego and greed of their builders. Sure, some eventually permeate the cultural identity of the city where they are located, but that isn't why they are built. They serve a practical function.

For another, it doesn't matter how tall and how lavish it is, it can be outdone by some one else in another city within a few decades.

so we disagree on the buildings. there are plenty of other skyscrapers with connections to the great depression, so i don't really think that's enough of a reason. the empire state building really is significant, but i feel that it is much less significant than the world trade center.

the great wall, great lighthouse and great library all served a practical purpose more than they reflect anything emotional. and that's only three off the top of my head. there's more of an argument for the library than the other two because it was a place of books and knowledge, but that's the purpose of libraries in general.

I'm not sure there is much worth in discussing which wonder is more deserving. In the end, it's a game and it needs to be fun. If it's fun to build the Empire State Building, I'd say it's worth it. And it would be, at least for me, but so would the World Trade Center and the Burj Khalifa. I however would not overload on these skyscraper wonders either, but then, why not, the Late Game is a bit empty of wonders anyhow...

The more important side for the inclusion of wonders is its effect anyways.

Well, yeah, you don't want too many wonders that look basically the same. That's another reason why I suggested the WTC, the twin towers. But I'd rather build the Mossad, Large Hadron Collider and a skyscraper wonder than just 3 skyscrapers.

I think the Bamiyan Buddhas would be a great choice

Hopefully there will be as many as 9 new wonders in the second expansion. Just as many Gods & Kings had. With nine new WW's we could have some pretty neat ones and especially for mid-late game which deserves more to be added. :)
