First off, I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong section. Feel free to move it if need be.

Now, this is my first attempt at making a mod... So don't expect anything too amazing. I'm working to make all new civs/leaders/a custom techtree/some unique units. I'll mostly be using resources already available to me, and I'll be using Koei's character portraits from Romance of the Three Kingdoms for the leaders.

Secondly, I'm wildly terrible at making good looking maps in the world builder. I would be extremely grateful if someone would make a world builder save for me of Ancient China, with perhaps a little bit of the surrounding territory. You don't have to worry about civs or resources or anything like that, I'll take care of that later. Thanks in advance, if anyone does undertake this.

Here are my plans for the mod so far.

CIVILIZATIONS
  • Han Empire
  • Yellow Turbans
  • Dong Zhuo's Forces
  • Cao Cao's Forces
  • Liu Bei's Forces
  • Sun Jian's Forces
  • Sun Ce's Forces (takes over after his father, Jian)
  • Sun Quan's Forces (takes over after his brother, Ce)
  • Yuan Shao's Forces
  • Yuan Shu's Forces
  • Zhong (Yuan Shu's short-lived empire)
  • Han Fu's Forces
  • Liu Yan's Forces
  • Lu Bu's Forces
  • Tao Qian's Forces
  • Yan Baihu's Forces (I pretty much chose him to represent the forces in Wu before Sun Ce takes over)
  • Ma Teng's Forces
  • Ma Chao's Forces
  • Zhang Lu's Forces
  • Gongsun Zan's Forces
  • Meng Huo's Forces
  • Liu Biao's Forces
  • Wei (empire founded by Cao Pi, though I will probably also allow Cao Cao as a ruler)
  • Shu (empire founded by Liu Bei)
  • Wu (empire founded by Sun Quan)
  • Zhuge Dan's Forces (only if I can find a ROTK 12 portrait of him... help would be appreciated here as well)
  • Jin (when the Sima family usurped Wei from the Caos, they formed Jin)

I know that's quite a lot of them, but it's because I want to make multiple scenarios within the mod (not sure how to do this?) to simulate different periods in time (all the scenarios would use the same map, they would just host different civs/borders). The civilizations will also not be as different from eachother as usual, unfortunately. If I do custom units, it will likely only be for Wei, Wu, Shu, and maybe Jin.

All of those who are "so-and-so's" forces are obviously led by said person, but Wei, Wu, Shu, and Jin will have multiple rulers.

RELIGIONS
  • Taoism
  • Confucianism
  • Hinduism (not 100% on whether or not to include it)
  • Buddhism (not 100% on whether or not to include it)
  • Folk Religion

I haven't decided on what the civics will be. I could use suggestions here.

TECHNOLOGY
RELIGIOUS TECHS
Folk Religion (leads to Folk Religion)
Confucian Teachings (leads to Confucianism)
Buddhist Teachings (leads to Buddhism)
Hindu Teachings (leads to Hinduism)
Taoist Teachings (leads to Taoism)

WARFARE TECHS
War Elephants (leads to War Elephant units)
Siege Weapons (leads to Battering Ram, Balista, and Catapult units)
Art of War (not sure what this would be yet)

I could also use help here. :)

UNITS
As far as units go, I plan on using most pre-gunpowder units present in the game (aside from non-Chinese civ-specific, of course). I also plan on making use of the supply train from the Charlemagne mod, because I loved them in that and think they would fit in. So... If the maker of Charlemagne sees this, you rock.

I was also thinking of using some of the animal units.

Any other ideas for units?

I think that pretty much wraps it up... Thank you for bearing through my wall of text (or politely skipping to the end). As I said, this is my first attempt at a mod, so I'm basically figuring it out as I go. It would probably be more prudent to start with something smaller and then working my way up to something like this, but I've never been known for making wise choices.

Any help/support is much appreciated. :)

Not sure if you have found it, but there is Mod that has this theme. It is fairly old and it is no longer being updated, but you maybe able to find it deep in the Modpack thread list. It may give you something to start with if you wish to improve.

If you can do scenarios and perhaps some other types of maps, would love to see it.

Good Luck!

The mod Jennvare is talking of is The History of Three Kingdoms.
It's an amazing modpack, I agree that adding new scenarios would be great!

Oh, I was looking and couldn't find one. Much appreciated. It would definitely be easier to expand on something rather than create from scratch, but I may end up starting fresh anyways. I'll certainly check it out at least, thanks. :)

Sorry about that, thanks for moving it.

Wow, this mod is really, really good. I started a game as Yuan Shao in 196 and trounced Gongsun Zan and am now gathering allies to take on Cao Cao. I was really impressed with the level of detail and number of playable factions and all the added features like the generals (I forget what they're called in-game) and whatnot. I think I have a new favorite mod. :D

I was a little bummed that there were no scenarios past the Battle of Guandu, though. I think I'll play the mod for a few weeks to get well acquainted with it and then try my hand at a few new scenarios.
