[GS] World Wonder speculation thread

Silicone Valley

I'm assuming you mean silicon valley. Silicone valley has quite a different meaning. Though I can see men getting amenities from that, but negative amenities from jealous women.

WIth the future era coming I hope we get International Space Station (requires World Congress because it's international ofc). Dunno how it's going to be portrayed on a tile tho, maybe it's a project instead.

Can we get that Dutch wall that keeps them from getting flooded? There aren't many disaster protection gigantic building out there and i think we can get one here.

Space Station might be similar to civ V - an international project.

There are flood barriers as improvement. I'm not sure if a wonder would make sense - what would it do different than the improvement? Create tourism?

Which one? We got about a dozen. If we're only talking important ones.

I'd say that, if there's an anti-flood wonder, just naming it "Delta Works" and have it be represented by the Oosterscheldekering (visible in the trailer) would be the most logical.

But what would it do? The Panama Canal already seems to be a rather lame wonder, but least it allows canals to be longer than usual. What does a special flood barrier do different?

I don't know what it does represent, but it isn't an iron atom. Iron atoms have 26 protons (not 10) and some 30 neutrons (exact amount varies, but the lowest energy iron isotrope (also the lowest energy per mass isotrope of all elements) has 30 if I remember correctly).

Looking at it's form, I think it actually represents a piece of a metallic solid, depicting ten of it's atoms. I think it's an FCC structure (hard to see from that pic though), which, if I remember correctly, is the structure iron typically takes, along with quite a few other metals.
It does look like a metallic structure, but not FCC though which would require an atom at the center of each face. It is a BCC structure if it does indeed represent a metallic structure.

This is on purpose, I don't want it to be a wonder as I don't think it is one in real life - it's an archeological wonder, like Pompei for example. I want to the be the Inca's or Pachakutiq's ability.

I really want a Pre-Columbian Andean wonder though! The only Pre-Columbian wonders are both Mesoamerican. What could replace Machu Picchu?

Hadron Collider

It was planned to be added in Civ5. I found the wonder music for it in the files, and it sounded awesome!

I don't know what it would do in-game. In real life, the Oosterscheldekering is unique because it can open or close, allowing the salt-water maritime life, as well as tides, to continue unhindered behind it. When a storm comes, it'll close for the duration of the storm, meaning the water level in the estuary it protects won't get too high.

(it's quite interesting to see it while the tide is changing by the way, because there's quite a strong flow through the many gates in the barrier)

It does look like a metallic structure, but not FCC though which would require an atom at the center of each face. It is a BCC structure if it does indeed represent a metallic structure.

Ah, you're completely right. It's a BCC structure. And I also looked it up, at room temperature iron actually has a BCC structure. Only at some 800 degrees C does it take an FCC structure.

Hey, we're all forgetting about the Cahokian Mound thing that might be one of the wonders.

Lol nah they're just all convinced it's a unique improvement. Which it clearly isn't, but myopic views seem to spread quickly on here.

Gotta disagree about that mound. It does not have nearly the same level of detail or grandiosity as any other Wonder in the game. I'd bet anything it's an improvement. It's literally just a hill, wooden fences, some huts, and stairs.

The new main new features are: world congress/diplomacy, natural disasters and engineering projects. And assuming they will add wonders geographically distributed in a balanced way, and from all eras, my full list is:

  1. Panama Canal (Engineering projects. Industrial era. Central America). Confirmed.
  2. Great Baths (Growth wonder. Ancient/classical era. Asia). Confirmed.
  3. Golden Gate Bridge (Engineering projects. Modern era. North America). Kind of confirmed.
  4. Great Mosque of Djenne (Religious wonder. Medieval era. Africa)
  5. Machu Picchu (Trade wonder. Medieval era. South America)
  6. St. Peter's Basilica (Diplomatic wonder. Renaissance Era. Western Europe)
  7. Statue of Zeus (Military wonder. Ancient/classical era. Eastern Europe). The last missing original ancient wonder, but there is not sign of this in early of the cultural/scientific tree, although.

There may be a wonder related to climactic studies at the end of the game, I can not think of anything right now. I would put this in place of the Statue of Zeus.
A Canadian wonder like CN Tower or Château Frontenac is also very likely.

St. Peter's Basilica is already in. It was added with Rise and Fall.

Here are 7 wonders of the modern world according to American Society of Civil Engineers

1. Channel Tunnel (Strait of Dover, between the United Kingdom and France) 2. CN Tower (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) 3. Empire State Building (New York, NY, U.S.) 4. Golden Gate Bridge (Golden Gate Strait, north of San Francisco, California, U.S.) 5. Itaipu Dam (Paraná River, between Brazil and Paraguay) 6. Delta Works/ Zuiderzee Works (Netherlands) 7. Panama Canal (Isthmus of Panama)

Two wonders from this list are already confirmed. I don't expect all of them, but I feel they will add more wonders for a late game this time. So apart from Statue of Zeus and Machu Picchu I bet on CN Tower, Itaipu Dam or Delta Works.

As for my TOP 10 wishlist (much more less likely)
10. Malbork Castle Poland

9. Mud Mosque od Djenne Mali

8. Sagrada Familia Spain

7. Piazza San Marco Italy

6. Caesars Palace Casino USA

5. The Crystal Palace UK

4. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha Thailand

3. Gardens by the Bay Singapore

2. Machu Picchu Peru

1. Dubrovnik old town Croatia
