What would be your "worst set"?

For me, it's tough to say, but probably:

Chaka (you're rarely safe with him, though you could use him as a attacking dog)
Gilgamesh (hard to rush, often strong)
Catherine (culture whore, basckstabber)
Sury (culture whore, backstabber hard to rush, extremely annoying)
Sitting Bull (spys, hard to rush, annoying)
Zara (space and diplo threat, good all around ai, hard to beat)

Cathy is a bit of a pain on Pangaea simply as she's a culture rexxing whore. However, the number one concern early is getting DOW'd daggered by AIs, so I'm inclined to worry more about those AIs with a higher propensity to do so. Shaka is one. Most of the others are pretty obvious too (Monty, Rags, Genghis, Alex, etc.) Most of the others you mention are fairly easy to deal with one way or the other. (ofc, you rarely roll the whole lot of psychos)

A deceptively nasty AI is Vicky. I can't count how many times she's DOW'd, backstabbed, or even daggered me. I think part of it as I've had a habit of writing her off as more peaceful...she does have a high peaceweight. But something somewhere is in her code that can make her evil.

Peaceweight is only a diplomacy relation modifier.

Vicky usually does declare war, but due to her low unitprob she's a fairly incompetent fighter, especially since she usually picks low peaceweights to start wars with, and these tend to be unit spammers.

It's harder to have 3 warmongers and one Zara which tech well when you are fighting continually with Shaka and Gengis and fall behind him. But if you have only warmongers, tech pace will be very slow and you will be able to out-tech them eventually.


Worst possible map on continent would be you, Shaka, Genghis and Montezuma with Kankan, Zara and Gandhi on the other continent. They will coming with theirs galleons when you won't have optic yet

Well, if I'm playing as Rome--one of my favourite things to do--it would be Sitting Bull, Hammurabi, Gilgamesh and three more Protective civs. Against other civs, after an early Praet rush, I'll have several veteran Praets to deal with anyone else, but after these guys, I'm lucky to have a couple left over.

SB is a lousy tech leader so he's relatively easy to attack later in the game, but Hammy and Gilly tend to do okay in that regard, so they're tough to rush and tough to take on later if you've fallen behind.

My worst set would be Napoleon, Shaka, Montezuma, Catherine, Sitting Bull, and Tokugawa.

Sitting bull would make your situation easier because all the other AI would hate him. Swap him for napoleon and now you're talking. I might throw hannibal in there over zara too. He's a pretty good techer and other waring AIs seem to like him.

I can see you're still civing, but why 4 and not 5? 5 is that bad? Personally i haven't tried anything after 2 and those were the days

I gave up on 5. They took all the fun out. i was bored with it before we finished testing it. I haven't played it since.
Haven't heard from war or markusf, but I still compete with berz in other sports fantasy leagues. Eyes still posts at Poly.

Getting harder to find MP games. Guys have left or like Barano, died.
