This is a bit late, obviously. I read this a few weeks ago, but didn't post it.

The articles are very long so I won't post them in their entirety.

Worst congressmen ever.
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/12054520/the_10_worst_congressmen/1

All of this is according to Rolling Stone magazine. Reading the first link is enlightening. I recommend it.

EDIT: SUMMARY for those too [insert naughty word] to read the links: The articles are about the Republican Congress that we have had for the last few years. Me posting it here is late, relative to the recent elections. I do highly recommend reading the first link.

EDIT again: The Worst Congress Ever is from Nov. 2, 2006. The other article is from Oct 17, 2006.

Though I generally hate Democrats, I must state that it isn't very wise to accept political statements from "Rolling Stone" magazine. That's like believing everything said on South Park is fact.

I generally like to stick with Family Guy for my facts.

I was disappointed that the moderates were replaced with democrats. If anything it was only those further to the right that needed a boot out the door. Thats why I think the Dems had no reason to be celebrating their supposed victory.

The Dems won control of the next Congress. This article is about the current Republican Congress. Go you!

This is an amazing statement.

About as valid as me making a statement regarding what I consider to be the worst congress ever, and my own personal top ten worst congressmen list.

Couldn't be more true "How our national legislature has become a stable of thieves and perverts".

Interesting how short our memories are though (Dan Rostenkowski, anyone?) and (big shocker) it seems to be shifting back to the democrats as we're seeing in Chicago. Luis Guiterrez, the governor and Barack Obama have all had shady real estate dealings with indicted campaign fundraiser and businessman Tony Rezko.

Rezko was indicted for alleged extortion of businesses seeking to do business with the Illinois Teachers Retirement System Board and the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board. In addition, he has been charged with staging false transactions of his pizza stores in order to secure $10 million in loans from GE Capital and investigators are also looking into a wire transfer sent to Lebanon for $400,000.

Stay tuned.

For the life of me, I can not understand why a politician with serious ambitions would take part in shady financial/real estate deals. Are they too stupid or too greedy?
"So, will you jump in with me on that shady deal?"
"well let's see, I'm running for national election and my life will be scrutinized from the day I was born and down to the minute, so yeah! Sure!"

I've wondered the same. My guess is that priorities change over time. For example, I've done and said many things in my youth that would be horribly embarrassing if I were to run for office. So when I was younger, I had no desire to run for office. Let's pretend that now I do have the desire to run for office. So all of my old embarrassing life details come out.

:vomit: to Rolling Stone.

Naturally, all (exception Jefferson) named are Republicans, and their mudslinging is beyond disgusting, going so far as to call Tancredo a "bigot."

Of course, Rolling Stone is just another Daily Worker with a higher circulation, so I didn't expect any better.

Well I think we can hardly blame an article criticizing the way the Republicans ran the last two congresses to focus on Republican people.

Furthermore I do not see how calling someone a "bigot" is mudslinging - or more mudslinging than calling someone, say, a flip-flopper.

 that's a good one.

If the worst Congressmen are Republicans then . . . they're Republicans. If the worst Congressmen were Democrats, then they'd be Democrats. Rolling Stone isn't known for investigative journalism, but I'm not ready to automatically dismiss it. The only bias I see in their 10 Worst Congressmen is the lack of Ted Stevens. :gripe:

Especially when:
a. people from his own party share that viewpoint of him
b. his actions earn him the label

Really, the Republicans are the worst? How do you explain Sheila Jackson Lee or Charlie Rangel? Where's Barbara Lee? Cynthia McKinney? Barney Frank? Baghdad Jim McDermott? Dennis Kucinich?
