Worst Invention by Man

I win.

Just about everyone who hasn't been brainwashed by religion I'd guess.

Edit: Sorry, should have said organised religion there.
So if it's so obvious, why not say why it's so obvious? Ought to be a pretty easy thing to do.

Because organised religion has caused more death, suffering and hatred than anything else.
Most of the wars that one can claim to have religious motivation were in fact spurred by other causes.

That shamwow sure seems AMAZING

I don't understand the purpose of his headset. Who's he talking to?

I think he's trying to look as if he's one of the guys you call, and he's soo busy selling all these shamwows that he had to rush from his post with no time to take it off and rush through that commercial. Or maybe he needs it to talk to that 'camera guy.'

And as much as I may sometimes be annoyed or dislike religion, organized or not, without it the world would be drastically different (obviously) but most likely in a bad way. Religion might be regressive at times but it also has been progressive, I'd say for more of it's existence than it was regressive. It is responsible for millions of deaths, yes, but it gave us answers, it gave us reason to do things, it made things possible that without it the people of prehistory may never have gone anywhere. It also gave us all kinds of art and architecture, and much more. Would man have done all this, good and bad without religion? He still would of killed, en masse, no doubt. I may not believe that early man's life was 'nasty, brutish, and short' but it wasn't necessarily pretty and conflicts arise all the time for reasons that a god can't be blamed for, though gods almost always seem to find their way into wars. And man may have advanced, but, like I said, art and the like has in a large part been inspired by some higher power. Cavemen drew pictures of animals on walls, were they there for the sake of art or for some belief that something would come of it? I don't know, but the pyramids were. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that religion can't be blamed for everything and that an atheistic human race would have been superior, because even if man would have moved forward without religion, the way it's shaped our world is immense and I can't say with full certainty that a godless people would have risen through the ages, because religion, unites and gives purpose. I can't honestly see humans not believing in the supernatural, so it was, to me anyway, an inevitable thing.

I shouldn't post at 4:30 in the morning, but there you go. It probably reads like a run on sentence, but I hope you get what I'm saying.
meh.

It's also probably caused more kindness, charity, and fairness than anything else. But hey! Why be objective and balanced when it's so much more satisfying to make wild, sweeping statements?

To put it more simply, religion doesn't cause anything. Religious people do things. Religious people are just people. Religion seems to me to act as an intensifier. Bad religious people tend to be worse than bad non-religious people. And good religious people tend to be better than good non-religious people. Why? Because religion makes people more passionate about what they're doing, whatever it may be. Religion is just humanity writ large. If you hate the bad things that religioin has supposedly caused, you're really just hating the worst things about humanity, and conversely, if you love the good things that religion has supposedly caused, you're really just loving the best things about humanity. To blame or praise religion for these things is to mistake the occasion for the cause.

Ideology won last century.

To lay the blame for all the evils of man at religions feet is to ignore human nature. Guess which one created the other?

You realise a bunch of people on these boards are going to give the answer other than the one you're looking for, right?

As I hope he expects :p

Television. Acts as a contraceptive, stupifier, desocializer, and a brainwashing device. Its positive uses can easily be achieved using other ways, w/o such a collateral damage. Pure win. I dont think there is a more destructive invention in the world.
