Worst pain of your life?

The worst pain I have would either one of two experiences. The first incident happened when I was 6 years old. Basically I scratched my eye on a plant that has needle like leaves coming from it/ We called it a blackboy tree, since when it got burnt, which happens regularly, they turned very black, but fire was needed for it to blossom and the seeds to spread. They are now called a grass tree or technically [wiki]Xanthorrhoea[/wiki]

As you can see the needles are quite sharp, so they caysed a nice scar on my eye as a result of riding through the bush and getting too close to one by accident. So for two weeks i had to wear a patch on my eye to protect it. But that is just leading up to the pain. The pain happened well over a decade later, since later on my eye started t dry out and as a result the retina would detach from my eye, the same one that I had the scar from and the pain was without the worst I had experienced at that time. Every time I got a glimpse of sunlight in my good eye, it would send pain to the bad eye, so often i would do my best to cover the eye that was not hurt, just to ease the pain. The worst thing about this was on the painkillers, made me sick and made the throw up in the doctors office. That was how strong the medication was. Since there was nothing they could do to stop my eye from drying up and having it happen, I had to put in eye lube before I went to sleep. So for a few years I did that, until I could not be bothered and I have not had a recurrence since that time.

The pain that I could say that would be very close to those experiences, is the current stomach problems I am having. Sometimes the pain gets so bad that I just cannot eat for days on end. Sometimes the pain is so bad that it keeps me awake at night hoping for the pain to subside and sometimes it gets so bad that sometimes I feel like i want to cut my stomach open to relieve the pressure building up inside.

Sounds like you might have an ulcer.

How does one get a urinary tract infection? I got chlamydia last year and it burned when I peed but I've never heard of a urinary tract infection as an STD, is it?

Chlamydia can be a UTI.

For several years, I'd had constant sciatic pain that prevented me from sitting or walking normally. By this past summer, I was forced to limp everywhere, and was increasingly distracted by the pain. I recently underwent back surgery to remove the problem, and thus far it has been successful.

About a year and a half ago, I contracted a urinary tract infection, because I am a slut. For some time before the diagnosis, I was peeing blood and convinced that I had a kidney stone. As it was, my dick hurt like hell for about two weeks before I was able to acquire antibiotics.

In my senior year of high school, I had an extremely severe ear infection that ruptured my eardrum. Aside from the utterly disgusting feeling of exuding blood, pre-earwax gunk, and other bodily fluids from my ear, the pressure on my ear before the rupture was insanely painful. Last time we had a thread about this crap, that's what I posted.

Can you get that from a girl? I was having sex with a woman with a UTI earlier this year. I was thinking in hindsight, that was a bad idea.

Which reminds me of an appropriate response to this thread. The worst pain in my life isn't physical, it's from a broken heart.

Some UTIs are caused by STDs and most aren't.

I once stepped on a nail. Went through my shoe and everything. I was on crutches for a good two or three weeks, just because of the pain. As for my initial reaction, it was very similar to Daneil Stern's in Home Alone.

Close second is the time I injured my lower back deadlifting in high school. That was thirteen years ago and the pain still comes back sometimes.

After reading some of the responses in this thread, I hope to never experience any of these things. I don't like pain. Pain sucks. :) I don't think I have a high threshold for pain. Although perhaps my threshold for pain is higher than I realize. Some people say it hurts to have needles put into you, but I never feel them. I never even notice when the actual needle pierces the skins. So maybe my pain threshold isn't as bad as I think. But occasionally I do get sharp pains in my ear, and it's excruciating pain, but thankfully lasts only 1 second. If I had to endure that for more than a couple of seconds, I would go insane. I sometimes get really bad pains elsewhere in my body, but like above, it's only for a second.

I do live a pretty safe life mainly because I do try to avoid pain. The only dangerous thing I do is drive to work and back. Unless I get in an auto accident, or I'm a victim of a crime, I feel like I can avoid a lot of pain. Although I am getting older, and my body may break down like some of the stories above with wisdom teeth, and appendix problems. Overall I'm not a clumsy guy too much, so I can avoid a lot of mishaps apart from stubbing my toe on the bed frame.

I don't have an ulcer, since i have been checked them. My best guess is parasites, based my reading, especially one called blastocystis. That one does seem to be a rather nasty parasite, but it is still controversial.
