That would make an excellentcity. I don't consider that a bad start at all, especially with other land masses so close by.
I suggest moving the palace or have every other city be part of your countless colonies

I should have won! I did manage to build a few world wonders (Stonehenge, Shwedragon Paya, United Nations and a maybe a few more I don't remember...I think I got the Great Lighthouse too), build the Internet and build all five of my national wonders...I also spread Sid's Sushi Co pretty good in the last 40 or so turns when I didn't think I would win....all of Lincoln's and Justinian's cities had it! Hammurabi had it in a few too.

Not only bad luck - did you ever think about producing cash money instead of research/future techs, to bribe constantly all the civs that are somehow likely to vote for you but didn't do that yet? You might have been secretary a long time earlier, no need for research all the spaceship techs either if youre not going to build it anyway.
