Worst start ever?

Togepi:

Nice game, first of all. Second, the save will be in (C:/Program Files/Firaxis Games/) Sid Meier's Civilization 4/_Civ4Saves/Single. The parentheses are the file directory in my computer, but it varies. The rest is standard.

wow......what a dramatic game

You can't really do that since it's an island......

That would make an excellent :whipped: city. I don't consider that a bad start at all, especially with other land masses so close by.

not to mention a well protected capital.

but what would happen to maintenance? Will the palace effect the nearby continents?

I suggest moving the palace or have every other city be part of your countless colonies :p
Moai seems a given there :D

Sorry guys. I don't. I played it all afternoon before saving. It was a really odd game. I checked out the world with the world builder and ALL but one of the civs started on a small island off the coast of their continent. Mine was actually completely landlocked! I was surrounded by that continent on all sides and had ice covering the only coastal channel out! I wouldn't be able to get out until Galleons! I started colonizing the continent only to find the Russians colonizing the same continent. I was REXing that continent when the Russians declared war. I had NO military on the continent whatsoever to fight them with, so I quit. It wasn't really fitting my style of play anyhow.

It might be able to be re-created using the same settings as I posted though.

Once my friend and I were playing a multiplayer game, and he spawned on the end of this tiny peninsula, but the thing was that washington spanwed around 5 or 6 tiles away, cutting him off from the rest of the continent. So instead of building workers and settlers and wonders, he pumped out warriors. And the Americans became a legend like the lost city of atlantis, being wiped out around 3000 bc. Actually in hindsight he had two capitols early...huh. And he turned out doing better than I did, he had to vassalise me to stop ragnars attacks (he was mad at being landlocked I guess). Wow so was that a bad start or a very lucky start?

I should have won! I did manage to build a few world wonders (Stonehenge, Shwedragon Paya, United Nations and a maybe a few more I don't remember...I think I got the Great Lighthouse too), build the Internet and build all five of my national wonders...I also spread Sid's Sushi Co pretty good in the last 40 or so turns when I didn't think I would win....all of Lincoln's and Justinian's cities had it! Hammurabi had it in a few too.

Just bad luck, I guess.

Not only bad luck - did you ever think about producing cash money instead of research/future techs, to bribe constantly all the civs that are somehow likely to vote for you but didn't do that yet? You might have been secretary a long time earlier, no need for research all the spaceship techs either if youre not going to build it anyway.

well it seemed like it would be a fun game to. :(

I think it's costum continents, 6 civs 6 continents that does this, i'll try it out myself.

That's right. I actually did it again! Custom Continents, 6 civs, and under continents I put "one per team". Capital was on a small island (not one square this time though) off the coast of my continent. Try it for yourself!

I did bribe them, I was certainly in no money decifiet.

But bribing stops giving you bonuses after a while, it becomes ridicolous, you need to give them like 10000 gold for maybe one diplo point. When my voting target was constantly changing and they all hated each other (odd, since according to the end game thing not ONE WAR broke out) it was hard to decide to who to gift such an enormous amount of gold.

Giving gold is useless after you get the +4 "our trade relations have been fair" bonus. Anymore money after that won't make them like you any more.

That would make the Ultimate LHC. :D
