Well, the Oracle may not be worth the resources, but its has two advantages: a) its not totally useless like Eiffel and b) its not harmful to you like Manhattan.

I hate Sun Tzu's, it doesn't allow all the benefits of barracks, which are cheap to build anyways. I always find their are better WOW's to build and i just don't like it

thw worst wonder is manhattan project, its STUPID¡¡¡
why a civilization that doesnt has a manhattan can trigger nukes?? Look, imagine that in the WWII, japan, germany, russia, United Kingdom are able to launch nukes coz USA built one Manhattan project¡¡¡¡
I only build manhattan project when i have Laser tech, and if the AI is building one, just send a spy to destroy it¡¡¡¡

thanx

Well, first of all, you need the techs for it, so the enemy has to be pretty advanced in the first place. Second, many thought nuclear bombs were impossible, but when it was proved possible (with Manhattan Project, wherever it's 'built') it was easier for enemy nations to develop them as well. Probably because of more money to the project, and because they knew it's achievable. Not that we shall discuss it here, but would Soviet (and all other nuclear countries) have developped nukes hadn't USA done it?

Also, it's hard to get every little detail of the real world without making a too complex game. SETI boosts science? Nations like France because of the Eiffel Tower? They stored food in the Pyramids?

Actually, I believe they did. And 3000 years later, folks who came by & opened some of those tombs said that the food was still edible.

...what else could you have the pyramids do?

:hmm: Perhaps increase trade because of tourism?

Also, you could try to include some aspect of the curse of the Pyramids into the game. For example, the first civ that has contact with the civ that built the Pyramids suffers a small and temporary population decrease. Imagine that in an MP game!

The Great Library is the worst wonder, in my opinion. Although I don't generally build any of those wonders unless an enemy AI is making it and I can't stop him, or I am at the end of the game going for score, the Great Library is the only wonder which could produce a potentially NEGATIVE effect! If you have played this game quite extensively you should notice that as you get more civ advances, your rate slows down (at least earlier in the game). Since there are clearly better ways to path your research than others, the *last* thing you would want to do is get a potentially worthless advance that would slow you acquiring a truely valuable advance.

I hope that was meant to be humorous.

I voted for the oracle, I don't think I've ever built it in any game, it just becomes obsolete too fast. However I think the GL has it's uses, for example if I was the first to research conscription, and another civ stole it with a diplomat and yet another civ had the GL, that other civ too would get conscription which is annoying, but if I had the GL only two civs would have it (conscription that is).

I noticed another worst poll in the other forum so decided to bump this one.

I'll sometimes build the Great Library and often build the Eiffel Tower - if I'm forced to break my rep, I'd quite like a chance at getting it back eventually. Lighthouse is extremely useful if you're stuck on a tiny island, but useless otherwise. I honestly can't remember ever having built the Oracle, but I'm sure it's nice for the few turns it lasts. As for Manhattan, I make absolutely certain that it doesn't get built until just before my spaceship touches down because I hate nukes, but like boosting my score by that extra 20 points.

I really only build Manhattan Project if the AI is trying to build it.
:goodjob:Ah! Ah! Ah!

The nukes make so much pollution it ruins one's score.

:scan: Great point of view!!!

in the one city challenge or if one is losing to the AI, which is often the situation I am presented with.
If your are playing OCC with Civ2 MGE, switch to Civ2 2.42. The AI is much more hotile in Civ2 MGE. The OCC was desgined for Civ2 2.42.

WS and SETI are not bad, they are quite good. WS a conveniance thing, it is easyer to keep the units out of the city and SETI is quite good for a science boost without actualy having to build them. They may not be the best, but they certainly are not the worst.

SETI is useless. You don't need that extra science in end of game, when there is only few techs left to research (except you want to research future techs, but i don't really ever do that). And often your cities can build the research labs in a few turns.

Women's Suffrage is not that good either. If you want to hold units outside cities, then perhaps fundamentalism is the right government for that. And luxury sliders, plus those entertainers do better job anyway.

Those wonders in that poll are all great. Except Manhattan Project, that doesn't give any bonus to your nation (except score, but who watch that?). It can be usefull though, if you are very advanced nation compared to others, and can drop nukes without fearing that somebody else does that to you.

But i would say SETI. Most useless wonder.
