Would you spank your child? Or give him a time out. Spanking has the atvantage of making your message loud and clear, while the time out is less abusive.

As a parent of three with 2 grown and out of the house, I choose spank. However, not all kids respond to a punishment the same. Spanking wont work for some, time outs wont work for some. As a parent, you have to be flexible and be able to use what works.

I'd have momma spank him. That way the kind won't think I'm a douchebag, and will hold me in higher esteem than his mother! :D

What kind of douchebag makes his wife do all the dirty work? :mischief:

Haha, I'll just agree to change the diapers, and she'll spank the little rascal 'til kingdom come.:D

I can deal with poopoo.:king:

Both, favouring timeout and spanking only when the timeout didn't work.

I dunno.

I mean, I hate the concept of saying "Timmy, Daddy would really like it if you stopped throwing rocks at him", because you're a total wuss if you do so. On the flip side, spanking is usually accompanied by the parent being all "Oh noes, I'm so sorry *sob*",which sends the child conflicting messages and doesn't help anything.

I'd use both; spank for the crazy . .. .. .. . (hitting a sibling, etc.) up to a certain age; once they're mature enough -> it shouldn't be a problem.

I would so take that deal.

QFT! Diapers scare me more than failing as a parent ever could :(

Sounds more like a parent spanking out of their own frustration, not as a correction. Such an action isn't right.

But... seriously, anyone here have parents that apologized after spanking them? My parents apologized to my brother once because I had done what they assumed he did.
