Would you support Texas in its secession?

Which side do you pick in the Second American Civil War?

The American Civil war was a war agasint the unlawful exportation tax placed on cotton and tabacco which seriously hurt the south casuing a massive recession in the south because many could no longer afford to sell there goods. The north only taxed cotton and tabacco exports no others, this was a direct attack agasint the southern economey which sparked the Civil war, must like the Brittish tax's sparked the American Revolution.

What? They Seceeded because they didn't recognize Abe Lincoln as the legitimate president, much like you don't recognize Obama.

You've done a real 180 in this thread. You've gone from calling Obama a fascist to saying that Bush's most authoritarian acts were his best? How did they benefit anyone?

because bush made us stronger and safer, Obama on the other hand wants to wipe away any hope of America being secure.

Frankly, if you're correct, it was a super top secret reason. Robert E. Lee didn't know it was about taxes, Abraham Lincoln didn't know it was about taxes, Jefferson Davis himself didn't know it was about taxes. We have tons (literally) of correspondence, speeches and declarations from them, and they all say the same thing. Ending slavery would be bad for the economy, so they rebelled.

That's the reason they gave, mixed in with some rhetoric about the Feds not having the right to outlaw slaves. It wasn't about taxes. You're just a historical revisionist.

Wrong. Bush got us into two wars we didn't need, trampled all over our civil liberties that we do need, and absolutely trashed the economy. That marks him as a miserable failure, not benevolent despot material.

Why? Let me guess, he's a Muslim terrorist.

ok guys its been fun, but ive grown rather bored here, and my wife is home from work, and where going out to party tonight. I just got back from Iraq Actully and this morning signed my discharge paperwork, I was supposed to get out in march but was in country so my time got extended. So now me and the wife along with my daughter and mother are gonna go out and celebrate. ITs been very fun, though a few of you gotta work on your gullibility.

Meh, hard to tell who's kidding over the 'Net. I've met crazier sounding people who were dead serious.

I'm just wondering who's alt he is?

Cool story bro.

This is a nice hypothetical topic and obviously is a popular topic of interest based on the number of posts. However, it would be completely ridiculously stupid if Texas actually tried to leave the US. Someone should have punched Rick Perry in the nose when he said that nonsense. However, that is what you get when you let an Aggie take higher office.

I want you to come to texas and meet these people you mock and then say that again, we wouldnt go as they say peacefully, youd have to kill all of us that want freedom and independance. In the cities we would open fire on your high rises, and from houses. Also how would the Army handle kids shooting at them, because you better belive those country boys and there sons will take up arms, would a US soilder shoot a 12yr old?

My Texan friends (that's a plural) would be insulted by this entire discussion.

You're my hero. Can I have your autograph?

Do you like long walks on the beach?

On topic:

The chance for a peaceful outcome is gone. If you have misgivings about this, please say "neutral".

Neutral would imply not having an opinion in either way, no?

I'd be opposed to either side; there are no good guys in this scenario.

we would survive and push you back actully, and no I dont, the Muslim Terrorists are people there animals that buthers for fun, what sherman did was slaughter an entire town, men, women even the Children then burned the town to the ground. Sherman is no hero.

that's not even english.

and i dont know about your sherman guy, but how can you say anything about muslim terrorists if you have never encountered one, traitorously backing out by huffing freaking bleach?
