Writing in Gunpowder

All three German cities agreed to welcome English travelers, as even the relatively seclusive people of Munich enjoy foreign culture and goods in small doses. Traders from as far away as the Spanish Queendom are seen bustling in the marketplaces of Munich, Hamburg and Berlin thanks to free passage through Russian lands. However, not all is well with our neighbors, as tensions increase after the fort of Novgorod was erected in a hilly area well known for their rich copper deposits.

Brave Hamburgian sailors who set out to explore the also rich in metal island between the German peninsula and the main continent have mapped out the entire archipelago and volunteered to ferry over colonists with their trusted Galleys should the council decide to settle it. Berlin, the unofficial capital and largest city in population and directly controlled land alike will likely provide the bulk of colonists when and if such a move is decided on. She is rumored to be the fifth largest city in the known world and one of the few with an old and extensive library, however few people can deny that she is getting overpopulated and attempts to deforest the outlying areas are coming along very slowly.

Hamburg is working on constructing her own Library to hopefully lure in more Russian cattle herders with the promise of educating their children. Another attempt to take their livestock by force would be impractical because of the giant wall the Russians built around their lands, and since this would most likely lead our neighbor to never open their borders for German merchants again which would close down foreign trade routes for good until an alternative route can be found. We may like it or not, but we are dependent on the goodwill of our archenemies, something no German is really happy with.

(good work Knoedel! This game has clearly lost most of its ability to bring longer stories, but at least giving the world some color like the notes above are still great!)

Moose herds north of Madrid have been particular large recently, leading to an abundance of food in the Spanish capital. The Spanish Islamists are particularly fat this year! :)

An internal movement in Madrid has led to the gathering of manual labor workers who will be moving together with their families to start a new settlement north of Madrid in the frozen tundra, where there is rumored to be precious metal in the ice. Isabella has made a call to the militaristic city of Barcelona to send support to the crown to escort these brave people to their new home.

It's funny really, I got inspired to write again by our discussion on how we aren't writing for this game.

I still think it has to do with the lack of human interaction and war. In Next War PBEM we both typed pages of dialogue every day when we were fighting each other, here I'm cut off by a boring old AI and lots of water.

That's true... we will be next to each other when a few of the AI's are *cough* removed *cough*... just wait a thousand years or so ;)

I actually think about letting the Dutch alive until the Modern Age.

Btw I also named a river and a mountain this turn, both Sterdam.

I've been recording stuff but it's all building up. We are starting to crowd each others borders now so some discord will be bound to arise soon enough.:satan:

I never thought much would happen until deep into the game Hense its title.
Oh I swung a club and hit a French warrior in the head. Not to exciting but it all depends on one's muse I guess.

Again I'm still looking at 3 Warriors and not much more, oh I also spotted a Portugese boat. So that is the French's story so far LoL

Maybe we should have chosen a Medieval start after all. :/

Meh its ok... starting earlier like this builds up a nice realistic world with some backstory and history. We will get there. All of our muses have left us anyway, so we might as well just enjoy this as the friendly semi-role playing fun game it is!

of course the one game im doing best in is the one game that I'm not supposed to care about winning in... #typical

I would love to write something good here, but literally nothing happened this turn. Started a few new worker projects but otherwise checked cities and hit enter... sent to hawklord

Whatever happened to that story you were plagiarizing time travel subplot?

what do you mean plagarizing???? lol... it was motivated by a book and a video game but the story itself was original...

its still possible but right now theres just not enough time with my new job. once things settle down maybe ill get back to it!

I'd like to get the history up to date but it's difficult finding the time at the moment.

Not to be outdone by Hamburg, sailors from Berlin now fielded their own Galley with which to explore far away lands. What they will find, nobody knows.

All three German cities agreed to support an extensive colonization effort to secure the rich Copper deposits on the yet to be named island recently charted by Hamburgians. Rumor has it that a fort near the head of the Sterdam river, close to Russia´s newly errected Novgorod, is also in planning.
