WW1 Real Time or PBEM

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads9/ww1week_21915ad.sav

There is the link to the uploaded file ... as you can see, it took me a few times to understand why the upload didn't work :D

@ Lou ... I wasn't aware that mail alone could corrupt a file in that way but I still think my argument is valid ... what ever has corrupted the file didn't necessarily happen when I emailed it to Detlef - it could have happened at any point since Detlef last sent it ... it just so happens the only person affected is Detlef.

One way to be certain, and it requires trust, is for Detlef to send me his password so I can try the save at my end ... if it opens normally then the problem is between Detlef and myself but if I cannot get the file to open either then the problem has occurred since Detlef last sent the file onwards which would still require a replay from that point.

Do you see my lovely digital arts skillz? Haha, I hope I get better than that ;p

I resent the file of my most recent turn onward to Aeon... I guess we can try shipping it through everyone again and see if that works...

Also, sure, try and upload it here...especially the transfer to Detlef as the problem seems to be around here... Play the turns completely over from scratch is my only idea...

BK

Has Detlef vanished ? I uploaded the file six days ago but so far Detlef has yet to confirm if the file works.

EDIT ... the last time a 'normal' turn was played and sent was on the 9th of Feb ..... it may be that this problem ultimately spells the end for this PBEM

He seems to be around as he is sending CSM1 and BK's RAR1... Though he doesn't seem to post in civfanatics all that often...

I would doubt it ... although I would like to see this PBEM continue, it has become evident that the scenario as it stands is very tilted towards the Allies and, unless the scenario were to be edited and balanced out a bit, I doubt another PBEM would be started.

Yeah, it really is slanted pretty heavily... oh well, it was fun while it lasted ;p

I have a feeling this one is going to die... It is very hard to fight a losing battle and the current problems that we are having only make it more difficult. I think I could continue to hold out for much of 1915, but not if the Brits, French and Russians would poor all of their troops into Germany at once... Plus, France produced a huge breakthrough first at Metz and now at Strassburg... My next line of cities has one conscript in each of them... I really have to watch that I don't overextend myself or waist troops in future PBEMs...

Yeah I guess we could end it. Its a very large scenario and I was caught out at the start thinking that I would be able to take the Balkans easily.

Everyone gets my feelings on this... I will graciously concede victory to the Entente as they were on their way to it... It would have been fun to see if I could keep you from reaching Berlin, but oh well... Thanks to everyone as I have learned much, especially about industrial/modern warfare, from playing in this PBEM. Destroying enemy infrastructure to seperate their forces proves to be extremely effective. Also, I will be more careful to not overextend myself against human players. Lastly, if you are actually fighting Russia, they are typically weaker in at the start of almost every scenario that they are in so hit them ASAP...

Again, assuming this one is done, THANKS TO ALL! And sorry to my Allies that I fought a losing campaign...especially after the first few weeks of the war...

Only three votes out of six players ... since the three we have vote to close then I guess that is what we do.

It was fun while it lasted ... @ BK - at least you may get some revenge in WW2 Global .....

I was away but I would have been in favor of continuing. Anyway with the current problems and since BkGreatWarnut considers he cannot turn the tide, I am fine with that decision.

Too bad since it was one of my preferred PBEMs...

I would also have prefered to continue as it was also one of my favourite PBEMs but with the problem with the save file and the fact Detlef hasn't bothered to try the file I posted 9 days ago, I really don't see any other alternative.

I to would like to see us finish, but it looks as if it isn't in the cards. This has probably been my favorite PBEM that I have been involved with as I have always eagerly awaited the next turn... Unfortunately, I was even worse than WW1 Generals and waisted many soldiers in offensive actions early on... If Detlef does respond or send the game on some time, I would not be opposed to continuing...if he doesn't, I will be satisfied with the way it has concluded because I hate beating a dead horse in PBEM games...
