Ok ... Detlef has now confirmed the resend still doesn't work so if Dell could send the last save I shall replay.

I usually save over the files I receive just to save clutter of PBEM save files but I guess I should maybe stop doing that in case this happens again.

Surely if you cannot open the file, then the damage could have been done at any stage since Detlef last sent it on, which would mean replaying from the last Italian turn .....

Did you try using this menu option at the bottom? It allows up to three megs, which is far more than enough for a save file (for instance, all the saves I have for this game are only 648K)

PS: is this save that I got the new one or an old one?

I really don't see any benefit to posting the save here ... the original arrived ok, it just kept crashing. I replayed and sent it - again it arrived ok but it still keeps crashing. It has even been sent to BK who also finds the save to crash.

Something has gone wrong since Detlef last received the turn ... whatever it is, it won't let the Britain to Ottoman turn work. We know Detlef received and played the last turn (week 1) ok but it is possible that the problem lies within the save he sent on to me as Italy.

I would suggest Detlef replays and sends the Week 1 turn again ... it will arrive with Italy as week 2 ... that way we are replaying from the last point Detlef was able to access the game ... if by the time it gets to Detlef as Week 2 it still won't work for him, then I think the file must be irreversibly corrupted and we are dead in the water

Dazz, I cannot explain you why but here are the circumstances where I saw it working.
I often had the problem with Ironduck of a save that was obviously corrupted somehow by mail.
He picked up the habit of uploading in the forums for me to download it and it worked everytime.
So I think it is worth trying...
And indeed there is no size issue using the upload feature at the bottom of the page (the one Aeon gave a clear picture of).
