WW1 Real Time or PBEM

HOLY SNAPS-- My Fleet! NOOOOoooo! YOu sank all my ships????

I DEMAND THAT THE FRENCH FLEET ENGAGE ASAP! AND TAKE NO PRISONERS! THE DEATH OF MY FLEET MUST NOT BE IN VAIN! I DEMAND THAT ALL BRISTISH SHIPS ALSO DEPLOY TO THE ADRATIC TO MAKE SURE THE AUSTRIANS DON"T LIMP BACK TO TRIESTE!

@DR: Haha true!

MT hush! Its your own fault and there is nothing we can do about it. Besides, since they were attacking I doubt that they will be doing much limping

MT...one other thing...British Ships, unless already on their way to the Adriatic, will not get their before the Austrian Ships make it back to port. Tally a victory for the Central Powers...our first real win in awhile!

Battle report:

destr. Brit. destroyer near Smyrna, Beirut and Gaza (totally 3 with no loss)
destr. 2 Russ. destroyer near Constanta (lost one)

bombed Gaza: 3 pop killed, damaged all units to 1hp, killed 1 MG, destr. recycl. center / barracks / courthouse and bank

And BTW a question:

Varna captured, all defenders slaughtered.
German stack attacked, all but three conscripts killed; they were saved when one promoted and I had already run out of artillery from:
Turkish gun position captured, 13 Turkish artillery pieces nabbed!

Can someone tell me how russia can capture 13 artillery without killing 2 MP's and how does it work that these arties can move more than 1 tile without a road or rail (between the artie pos and Bucharest are 2 tiles and no road)?
Many thanks for any explanations.

Hmm? Oh, I get it!

I did the German thing last, I just disforgot it first.

I killed your two machine guns, and then took the mountain. What do you mean by MPs?

You can see the stack of your artillery sitting just outside of Bucharest with a stack of my troops on top of it and a few workers to build railroads to take them somewhere else. Maybe Christmas in Memel? Haha ;p

That may have been a bit too cheeky, but vee are zee Rossians! Cheeky is who vee are!

Christmas in Memel sounds as if it won't be a very merry place to be especially since German troops are determined to hold it. In fact the entire eastern front proabably won't be a very merry place to be come Christmas time (week 51-52). What a pleasant Christmas...two cousins ordering their prould peoples to attack each other!!!

Anyways,
Happy early holidays Nick (aka Aeon)!

MP would probably be movement points... The problem is that Russia has armies and decent cavalry with 3 movement points whilst everyone else is limited to rubbish cavalry and 2 movement point armies.

Naw, my cav is the same as all of your cavalry. The real problem for the Turks was that they failed to notice the transport full of troops that I used to garrison Varna the turn I took it.

I will admit that I have several offensive armies, but cant you guys build them too? Nothing special about that... mine are just full of Cossacks!

@Kaiser BK:

Shaddap trucebreaker! ;p

I was just going to fire some presents into Memel... can I help it if the Turks I hired to shoot them cant tell the difference between a present and a shell? Hahaha

At least they shoot better than us Russians ;p

guys I got my turn today but after loading it it seems to be the last turn. I know this because my fleet was were it was before Austria sent it to the bottom. Ok someone sent me the wrong save.

Umm...e-mail Detlef as the problem obviously occured with him. He posted a battle report so I am sure he just sent the wrong turn...after waiting a real week between playing each week you can get a little bit lost.

Also, Aeon is correct about his Cossacks. Their attack is 4, defense is 3 and movement is 3. Regular calvary share the same stats. He has simply put his cossacks to better use (he had more to start with, but the Russians had more to start with in the real war...mobile units are needed when you have that big of a country!). Also, Aeon's recent capture of enemy artillery has even strengthened his forces in which he can bombard and then strike with cossacks that then have the ability to retreat. The German Military is busily organizing and developing a plan to halt Russian advances as they are beginning to throw their sheer weight in man power (and horse!) into an offensive based out of Rumainia. Right now Russia possess far superior numbers of calvary which are still effective (especially in army form) on the eastern front. This string of continued Russian success needs to be stopped if the Central Powers is to still have a chance to win the war.

I did have more to start with... but I also got a LOT more killed in a VERY foolish raid. What is more important than my crappy cavalry is my massive load of artillery... and the lovely golden age which allowed me to mass produce it ;p

I dont know what it is about the game engine, but I do know that a 1 hp unit, no matter what the defense, will lose to another unit ALMOST every time. I think the success of Russia is more than enough proof of that. Oh, and I get about fifty R divisions every 12 turns... and although they ARE ridiculously bad, I do have more soldiers than you would believe. Russia is so easy to defend against anything at this point that I do not believe anyone could break through me.

Had Germany struck IMMEDIATELY (illogically ignoring the far greater immediate threat of France and England) I would have been snapped up like a baby in a gator's jaws. Austria was once able to move troops through my territory with impunity! Not so much anymore, not so much ;p

What does Rocoteh have to say about winning as the Central powers against humans? Does he think it is possible? I am not sure that it is... even with the awesome might of the neutrals behind you ;p

Next dumb question, are we the first group to PBEM this one?

Just one thing about the Golden Age that I think that should be changed. I have no problem with Russia using their golden age to their advantage, but I think it is stupid that only they have a golden age to start with. I'm not sure which unit starts my golden age...I'm guessing it is either the Fokker DR7, the AV7 or the Kaiserschlact. Anyways, the point I am getting at is that I think each Civ in the game should have all their base units except for Machine Gunners flagged with the "starts golden age" flag. I really think that this would represent the strong sense of nationalism and readiness for war that each country had at the beginning of the war...then by about week 50 it should stop...so like a 20 turn Golden Age...and that would represent the decline in morale because both soldiers and civilians would realize that the war would not be done by Christmas. Just my opinion on things, but I think it is a good idea.

Aeon, I was just wondering when your golden age started? I assume you got it the turn of the Glorius Raid, so that means it will be done in 14 turns...(Current turn-Start of GA) 43-31=12, (GA length-Turns in GA) 26-12=14

Because that might be too long as it is... :(

Hmmm, this explains it. I've got the wrong file from Dazz. I didn't realize it and send it away. So Dazz, send the right one again.

This is getting messy ... the turn I sent Detlef was week 43 which is the file I got from Dell ... as the previous file was week 42, I didn't suspect anything unusual except that when playing, I did wonder why my damaged ships still hadn't healed up while in port. Did I get the wrong file from Dell ?

Like I said, Dell sent wwi,week43 which, after playing, I overwrote the file to save clutter and sent it on so I can't even check the original file sent by Dell, but the bottom line is that what I sent to Detlef is the file Dell sent me, obviously after I had played it.

Does that make any sense ?

EDIT ... coome to think of it, Dell posted that some British shipping in the Adriatic had been sunk but when playing, all British shipping seemed to be present and correct, ie no losses .....
