WW1 Real Time or PBEM

OKAY played and sent on!

Combat reports:

Dede-Agache and Gallipoli (both Turkish) have been captured! The Turks are now driven back from the Balkans, all the way back to Gallipoli!

Some farmland was bombarded next to Constantinople, as was a coastal battery and (in Germany) a railroad to Memel.

Russian losses amounted to 7 or 8 cossacks.

The campaign is declared as having completely reversed the previous Russian position, in which a total retreat was considered necessary. Highly placed Russian officials indicated that a truce may be offered, but noted that nothing will be certain until Constantinople falls. One official was quoted as saying: "The Holy City must be returned to the hands of the Faithful before any talks will be possible".

Good luck guys!

Well, I guess he is expressing contempt for the Russians. Hes probably going to have to visit us, and he would hate for his men to take chill ;p

Aeon has it right...the Turks are really hurting now...and some sort of legitimate offensive against Russia is necessary... I just have to figure out what has a chance of success.

Not very good. You have spies, so you know that my front two rows of cities on your border (and the Austrian border) have been heavily fortified (at least twice the number of troops you have available to attack with in each city). Any attempt at an offensive will inevitably result in massive losses for your stalled troops, as you will not be able to withstand the inevitable Russian counterattack.

My goal has been to bleed you to death if you do attack (allowing the French and British an excellent opportunity to smash your Western front), and to overrun your allies (both of whom are restricted to troops closer in quality to my own) if you do not.

By virtue of sheer size (bigness ;p) Russia seems more than able to hold its own. Plus, I will be gaining some 60+ free infantrymen in a few turns.

I am strongly of the opinion that this scenario is greatly unbalanced in favor of the Entente, as the progress of the game has shown. I might be okay at civ, but I am no where NEAR as good as I feel this scenario is making me look.

I would strongly suggest that the Russians be toned down in the future, and the Turks greatly strengthened (at least in terms of defensive power).

Russia should DEFINITELY start with conscription. The lure of simply creating an army out of thin air (rather than taking the time to build one) would have resulted in my country being torn apart by civil strife long ago, and in the creation of the standard infantry/arty armies that you guys are using.

Instead, my army has no conscripts and lots of cavalry, while the German army is almost entirely conscripted... it feels really weird.

Anyway, its a bit late now to do anything.

France proud pilots cut Bruxelles from the rest of Germany.

A minor major (try to understand !) battle in the North saw the destruction of a small German stack within my territory.
They proved though to kill nevertheless :they cost me 2 cavalries (pff) and 6 R Div while I destroyed 4 conscripts (1 got promoted to elite and was the real trouble, their leader deserves whatever ugly German decoration there is !), 4 MG and 2 vet infantries.
I also attacked a German Cav division south of Bruxelles. Big mistake since his cavalry is not exactly like mine. Should have checked the stats instead of losing stupidly a R Inf.

Sunk a Neutral detroyer and bombarded the Austrian Adriatic coast where he is sheltering 2 transports.....

Played and sent.

Turkish Haifa captured ... 3 Infantry and 2 Cavalry defeated and 3 Artillery captured for the loss of 2 Infantry.

9 Conscript German Infantry on outskirts of Antwerp defeated and 1 worker captured for no loss ... some nice promotions though :)

-North of Verdun:
2 Light Artillery bombard & 2 Kav Div (Ger) def. 1 Inf R Div (Fr) with the loss of 1 Kav Div.

-SW of Antwerp:
21 Light Artillery Bombard destroying the roads and railroads.

-Antwerp:
4 Railgun, 4 210 MM Art, & 10 Light Artillery bombard the city weakening the defenders.

The Kaiser ponders, "Where, when and how do I strike Russia and will the Limey's ever stop coming?"

Siege of Constantinople begun

Constantinople heavily shelled, 1MG killed for no losses
Population reduced by 2 points to 34
Territory around Constantinople also heavily shelled (all terrain improvements in the Balkans destroyed)
All units damaged to 1HP

First feeling out of the position has left the Russians optomistic. Even with heavy reinforcements, the Turks will not be able to hold for long. Russian opinion is still divided as to which strategy to utilize, but it is likely that the size of the city will be considerably reduced before it is captured. Flowers sent to the German Kaiser in the hopes that he will understand how well loved he is by Russia ;p

The French navy were made to regret their previous bombardment and also their position just south of Ragusa. Heavy bombardment redlined all 6 ships and a daring raid was launched by 3 destroyers which were all victorious.
