WW1 Real Time or PBEM

And back to Dazz_G

Nothing worth to tell. I'am only wondering why the russians transfered their big stack out of sight.

Yeppers! Right on the money with that assertion!

Let the intimidation FLOW through you!

1914 Week 50 (2nd Week of December)

German Counter Attack began with shelling of Konigsberg by 2 Light Cruisers and 1 Armored Cruiser. 2 Kavs (Ger) def. the 2 Cossacks (Rus) garrisoned there. (I think I see what the Tsar is doing, inviting me to retake the city so he can hopefully slaughter some of my men).

Massive counter against Russian forces northeast of Warsaw by 5 Railguns, 7 210 MM Art & 32 Light Artillery. 2 Kavs killed trying to attack so I called off any further attacks until I get more reinforcements and arty too...

Kaiser BK

"All is not lost for Germany. The upcoming weeks will be a key juncture in the war. The result of these December Battles could spell doom for Germany and our allies. However, I trust that our brave soldiers will fight courageously onward to victory. With a win and the rapid increase of production of war munitions, a German Victory could regain the momentum that we lost in the 6th week of the war." -Official Remark of the Kaiser

Zee Russians, we may not have zee biggest guns... but we have zee mostest!

Come play in our rolling hills, Kaiser.

(speaking of which, I have a paper to do for tomorrow today that I did not know about yesterday... I might sneak this turn off anyway, but dont hold your breath... I dont even know what the topic is, just that its a Euro paper  )

Turns out my first period was cancelled, so I got this done!

Combat:

1 German Kav butchered

Ominous silence wafting across the battlefield...

where did the Russians go?

French Report :

It is with great "plaisir" that citizens of Tangiers became French (second-rank) citizens.
At the same time a small attack on Metz saw the destrcution of 1 MG, 1 fortress inf and 8 conscripts for the loss of 3 R Inf of gallant French soldiers.

Less galant but very efficient, our brave "pilotes" have caused some havoc on the transport system of western Germany. Apparently Metz and Mainz are isolated.
We feel bad when we think of fresh and defenseless blond-haired German girls starving (rioting ?) in these cities. They can seek shelter and food with us as they will be great prizes for our colonial troops !

EDIT : love the speed lately !

Bombardment along the borders. A brief scouting party in the north found nothing interesting.

@ Aeon-yes, zee Russians have by far the mostest which has made me consider stopping production of the more costly Railguns because they have only one shot (albeit a strong one) while I could instead have 5 210 MM Art in the same time with 5 shots and more damage... They are either heading back to menace the Turks, healing before returning to Konigsberg, or heading towards Memel...hopefully not towards Posen or Breslau!!!

@Loulong-I take it Metz is still in German control???

Germany moves to prevent successful continuation of offensives. The Kaiser ask all citizens to put forth their greatest effort to protect the fatherland as Christmas (week 51) and allied forces near.

South of Metz:
-2 210 MM Art bombard and 2 Inf R Div (Ger) def. 2 Inf R Div (Fr).

Rotterdam (and surrounding area):
-17 Light Art bombard destroying roads and weakening corps.

Strassburg/Nancy Line:
-8 210 MM Art bombard French troops there.

Southwest of Metz:
-5 Railguns bombard French stack.

Hmm...and we were doing great for about a week there... Aeon, did you receive. He probably has but is busy with schoolwork or something. Let us hear from you soon...

Sorry guys, its the end of the grading period here... you know how that is: "Hey, its time to test your balls off because we have been jerking around for about 2 months now! Oh, and while youre at it, write a few papers. Jolly good!"

Plus, I am getting hardcore in my spanish scenario's creation ;p

BUT I promise it was worth the wait haha

KOMBAT:

Tarnesvar was heavily bombarded and attacked, with the loss of about 8-10 defenders. Only five cossacks were lost, although several retreated.

Due to losses experienced over time, the Tzar has decided to initiate the creation of a massive roll of all able bodied Russian males in order to make service in the military more representative of the members of the state. It is expected that the conscription program's efforts will take 2-3 months before it is ready to initiate the callups.

Discontent appeared almost instantly after this declaration was made, with several peaceful protests and marches organized in some of the larger cities (most notably Moscow). There were calls by some of the protesters for the creation of a more equitable state which better represents those called upon to die for the state. These protests are expected to escalate in size and ferocity as the conscription process goes on. There are fears that they could indeed topple the state, as most of the military is otherwise occupied on the front lines.

A fifth Corps was created today after nearly two months of organization efforts. It is intended to protect the homeland against the expected incursions of German troops.

The Tzar sent out his Christmas gifts this week:

A brace of fine white horses to the French President
A yacht for the Queen of England
A beautiful Louis XIV oak table for the Prime Minister of Italy
And a finely engraved pistol with a single bullet to his German Cousin... with a note on how to use it

Onward!

Bloody Mess (as the English newspapers state, punning on the pronunciation of the city Metz) !

2 major battles this turn : 1 for Metz and one for the protection of the fields north of the city.

Probably helped by the local citizens eager to return to a cultured country, our troops stormed Metz with no losses (that is without the 6 German R Inf cornered in the city who were killed or surrendered).

North of Metz the battlefield was bloodier. Indeed our troops pushed ahead of their officers after having captured Metz. They were so happy they charged without orders shouting "home for Xmas !). Now the disorganized wave suffered heavy casulaties but after a while French officers started to, not withdraw as we saw the opportunity of capturing some fine artillery (French-made ?), but organize the wave.
French casualties are high (14 R Inf, mostly regulars and veterans and 2 Armored Cars) but German casualties are heavier, despite the losses of the initial wave and the fact our artillery got stuck behind and thanks to the "élan" of our troops : 12 R Infantries, 2 MG, 2 Kav (the others retreated cowardly) and 2 flamethrowers. Of course we might have forgotten 1 or two units in the heat of the action.
We also captred a German engineer (who was promised he could work in the south of France where the weather is warm) and 10 light artilleries...

Cologne isolated, albeit this cost us a zeppelin shot down in air. The cries of the burning men could be heard in French-held territory. :-(

Our soldiers are hoping if not for peace for at least a Xmas truce. What do you say ?

All for now !

Austrian forces returned the bombardment with the usual failure of the artillary to actually do much damage. Venice also bombarded slightly.

Dell, I have civil defense in... whatever that city is I own next to Tarnesvar (haha cant remember my city's name...). Do you have one in Tarnesvar? It seems like my men attack without a disadvantage.

I do notice that your fortress units seem to be VERY resistant to bombardment, so I think they must have a higher bombard defense than, say, your armored cars (which almost always take the full two points).

Anyway, it seems like the game is back on track! I apologize once again for my slowdown, but it couldnt be helped.
