WW2-Europe XXL

@heureous: did you follow exactly the steps described in the readme.txt ?
if so you should now have a folder: civ3/conquest/conquests/ww2 aeldrik/.....
the error you are describing sounds like you didn't unzip the files in the right folders, please check with the readme, if you have question or don't understand parts of it, please ask them....

Well I thought I did, but if it looks to you like I made a mistake, then I'll do it again. I think I'll just delete all the files and start with a new download. Thanks for the quick response.

@keureous: let me know what happens.... I checked the files I uploaded, and the entry is there,... you can check in the pediaicons.txt in the WW2 Aeldrik/text folder, the entry is at the end of the fiel

@atomic: what CPU and RAM do you have? on older PC (less then 800 MGHZ) the game can just get stuck, that's CIV..... also happens when you play very large maps with lots of players... otherwise it usually always goes on, you just have to wait, as I said, on my PC it takes about 1 hour to start...
or is it the sav file you are trying to load?

Warning:

I just tested my latest scenario as Russia for once, and found one more bug..... These guys at Firayxis §$%$&$%&§$&...... no comment... did they even test this game.....
well, however, this one, I think, will be quite hard to resolve...

The bug is, when you set a CIV to be of a certain Era, it also gets all the techs from the previous Eras... great, so what is the option you have to set them all manually?????????

Okay, so I deleted everything, downloaded as per your instructions, and got game up and running. I must have missed a step last time. Thanks.

Aeldrik, your tech tree that I was so looking for is great! :goodjob:

Did I understand you correctly in one of your earlier posts that you are still working on it? (I saw that all the techs for which you used the “radio tech” icon contained the “build radar tower” option.)

One very minor point: Will you add flags to the foreign advisor screen, as well?

Keep up your good work!

CellKu

@CellKu: the tech tree is finished, I don't think I'll change it unless Firaxis makes major changes to the game...

I will try to add the flags for the foreign advisor as well, but it is quite at the bottom of my list, first I'll add all the missing flags, making the civilopedia entries,.----

(what you saw with the "build radar tower" is because the civilopedia is not yet made, I just used the same entry for different techs.,.. one off course only needs Radar to build radar towers)

Started my first game, and have some questions/observations:

1) I don't have the new tech tree. Most of the advances mentioned in the readme file are not here.

2) Before anything else happened, America and The Third Reich formed an alliance and attacked France. That bites. Portugal and Finland have just attacked Yugoslavia. They have bigger problems than Yugoslavia. I've been reading the thread and I see that the whole issue of locked alliances is a tough one, I'm just throwing in my 2 bits for feedback purposes.

3) After waiting ten minutes with no activity, I cntl-alt-del and found the game was not reponding. I'm running a 2.6ghz CPU w/512mb RAM.

Any suggestions? Thx

So, I began a new game, and made alliances with all the " Allied " countries aginst the Third Reich to approximate a WWII start, that works.

Problem is though, It's just taking too long. I can't even get out of the first turn. Is my month-old computer obsolete already?

Anyways, looks like you have done an incredible amount of work here, and I'll look forward to playing it when I get a bigger computer.

Alright well in the editor such words/names were mispelled.
(... a lot of right corrections, as much as I know, and then...)
A Corunia = A Coruña
____AELDRIK: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
____Still downloading files but hopeful about being able to play this one.
____Also thankful for the correctios of the names by Monilize, but I respectfully disagree with one of them.
____"A Coruña" is the correct name today, but "La Coruña" was the correct name in the WWII. This apparently innocent difference has deep historical roots and meaning.
____"A Coruña" is the correct name now, being in Galician language, a language by its own (not a dialect of "Spanish", actually Castillian), recognized now by the federal ("autonomic") state of Spain in these days. The democracy in Spain has recognized the fact that Spain contains many cultura ethnical groups with different languages, which are now being resepected and protected.
____In the WWII, however, Spain was governed by the "Grand General" D. Francisco Franco Bahamontes, who established a dictatorship with some characteristics, one of them being the strong Castillian ("Spanish") nationalism. "Peripherical" languanges like Basque, Catalonian, Galician, Valencian, Bable... were prosecuted, books burned, literature hidden. And all names where officially changed, where necessary, to their Castillian ("Spanish") counterparts.
____"A Coruña" is correct since 1985. But in the WWII, it was "La Coruña". The other denomination gives yound Spaniards the impression that the dictatorship was much more respectful with spanish cultural diversity as it really was.

@aeldrik: Just to make sure you did not misunderstand me: I think you made an awesome tech tree!! :worship:

Concerning the flags for the foreign advisor screen: I totally understand if your working on other things right now. Just for information for the time that you are going to deal with them - and if you haven't seen it already: Walter Hawkwood made some foreign advisor flags. Maybe they are of interest for you.

@ Cellku: I got you right, and can only say thanks a lot for the compliments... always feel good to see the work is apreciated---
thx for the link, I'll check it and use it for the next version if it is what I need...

@Moredan: I am familiar with the spanish history (my girlfriend is from Zaragora), and understand what you mean. I will change the name for the next version, thx for the correction...

aeldrik, great that I could be of help. My pleasure!

Looking forward to the next version!

@aeldrik:MS Windows 2nd Edition
HP Pavilion
w Intel Chip
256 Ram

Everytime i try to play it always not responds even if i try to play another one of my games.

@ Atomic: 256 RAM is not a lot for a game this big, how fast is your CPU? the windows version doesn't matter...

From my personal experiecen, my old PC was a 350 MGHZ CPU with 220 RAM, and I couldn't go beyond the industrial age on a large map, the game would just stop respond, I also couldn't load it anymore, same problem-.---

I guess, since this scenario is a lot bigger then even a huge map (map is about 300x200), if you CPU does not have a least 1 GHZ it is quite probable the Game will freeze.... sorry...
