WW2-Global

... Remarkably well done, but I have a problem. I'm playing as Germany, I've conquered the British Isles, continental France, the Low Countries, Poland and all the Russian cities you mentioned - yet I haven't 'won.' How are the victory conditions set, exactly?

Also, yeah, Germany does seem a tad too easy. I was in Moscow, London, Paris, Warsaw, Brussels and Madrid by 1941. Eliminated most of the American, British and Soviet navies as well.

what are all the civs in this game b4 i download it

juballs2001,

If you download just the biq-file and open it with the editor
you will see the Civs listed under Scenario Properties.

Sine Nomen,

The house rules are just house rules. They can not be implemented
with the editor.
Thus if you want an end to the scenario that AI determines, you must
play by the standard rules.

I have played my first two turns as France (choose Sid as difficulty, since I want to have max. challenge and high AI production bonus) and it is a very entertaining and interesting game so far :goodjob:

T1/W36: Mainly dominated by sea battles.I have sunk some German subs in the Atlantic and there were two massive battles between destroyers and submarines with Italy in the Med.Sea. Sea forces of both sides get decimated.
Then I thought about how to set up my defense. Since I don't want to risk loosing a city if germany should break through the Maginot-line, I decided to retreat the mobile forces back to Paris and Lyon (I even thought about rebasing the fortresses insid the cities, but I wasn't sure if this option was really intended). My air froce bombs border-near German troops.

IBT: Lost some ships in Med.Sea and Korsika suffers from Italian air raids.
Italy deploys around 20 inf. units E of Lyon, while Germany moves only a few infantery and an injured army towards Maginot.

T2/W37: Sea fights in Med.Sea continue and I concentrate artillery, tanks and mot. forces in Lyon to make a counterattack on those Italian infantery forces.I was able to take about half of them out, but lost about 5 tanks/mot.inf.

IBT: Germany conquers Poland.Italia conquers and races Djibuti.Their infantery assault is beat of without losses.Germany breaks through Maginot in the middle segment, but sends only one tank against Paris (and this tank avoids the M-Line by choosing the northern route). The biggest danger is at the moment Italy, they move 15 armored units towards Marseille.

I'm excited how this plays out!

Some minor observations/suggestions:
- as described in my report, the Maginot fortresses can rebase, bombard etc. at the moment. Not sure if this is intended.
- while playing my first turn, I thought about how I would be if the "Allie" nations skip their first turn - this would simulate the surprise moment
- research is very slow (but this might be also related to the fact I have choosen Sid), even with 100% I can't get under 40 turns/tech

Pfeffersack,

Thank you for the very interesting report.

"the Maginot fortresses can rebase, bombard etc."

That was not intended. I must check it out.

Yes, I agree on the surprise moment. Notes have been taken.
It was my intention that research should be slow. Not to slow though.

Again: This is very interesting. I am looking forward to future reports.

Great scenario Rocoteh :goodjob: Thanks for the hard work :)

I love the detail you have out in the scenario! It is very fun to play. I have started a game as Japan, any one else tried them out? It is plain from the start I have one mission above all else.......Oil!

I quite fancy trying a game as the Brits as well, though my computer is only 1GZ so we shall see what time allows.

One small request..any chance of an saved game at Emporer (or above) level for Japan? :) My computer is slow so loading times are long and not that practical with family competing for computer time over christmas!
If any one loaded from start then how long did it take? (I notice Pfeffersack did - did you have along wait?)

Ok i got to play a few more turns and here we go. just ideas i hope.

1 == uncheck the Pillage box for units == Spain declared war on France and Razed 2 cities before i could get there. Same with Italy and Turkey.

2 == Shouldn't Arty units be captureable ???.

ComradeDavo,

Thank you. I am really glad to hear that you liked the scenario.

Yes, I will upload a saved game for Japan (at Emperor level) later today.

I hope you will post more comments in the future.

recon1591,

"1 == uncheck the Pillage box for units" Good idea! Notes have been
taken.

I will make French defense in the south stronger. I will see what
I can do with regard to Turkey. Let us hope for an "never raze cities"
option in Civ 4.

2 == Shouldn't Arty units be captureable ???.

The defense factor on artillery units is there with intention.
The reason is that I want that one should be able to attack
artillery with air-strikes and counter-battery fire.

Thank you for your comments.

Not exactly sure, but somewhere between 1 and 2 hours.I loaded the scenario while leaving my flat for about 2 hours. When came back it was loaded.Since my CPU (1,8 and 512) is abit slower than the recommended for playing, I think it has took a bit longer than an hour.

Pfeffersack,

On my new computer 2 GB RAM, Pentium 4 3 Ghz
load time is 15 minutes.

My old computer 512 MB RAM, Celeron 1.2 Ghz is "fading away"
since the defrag-function does not work anymore.
Thus it refuses to load Civ 3 or any other games since 2 months.

For that reason I can not give load info on that computer.
My general impression though with regard to Civ3/C3C is that
more RAM will "pay" better than increased Ghz if one should
upgrade hardware.

Its very important for Japan to get an early control of the
rich resources in Dutch East India.

Hey all, new here. I'm afraid I have a problem. I dled the saves for Russia, Britain and Germany. When I tried to load them in the game, it stopped at 38% and gave me an error message about a missing unit animation. Have the save files gone wrong? Any way I can fix this?

Btw, I can tell by the comments and screenshots that I am going to love this! I sorely missed the WWII scenario of civ2. I thank you Rocoteh for putting in the huge amount of time and effort that a project this size must require.

you've DL'ed the big file w/ the unit animations, etc?

you need it to run the scenario.

psweetman1590,

Thank you.

In addition to what El Justo says:

Are you sure the saves have been put into the right saves-folder?
Its easy to do a mistake with that.

Yes to all of the above. I 'm going to re dl this thing, and see if that helps.
