WW2-Global

Week 47 part 2:
I took Lahore and then I regrouped.

PC turn:
The US forces broke through the Channel into the North Sea.
China has nearly eradicated Thailand, while the Japanese are attacking in China. Until now no city is razed.
Also my first destroyer flotilla Zerstörerflotille Narvik is ready.

Week 48:
Jaipur is taken without resistance. Dehli is also captured after a longer fight.
All US and British DD in the North Sea and off Norway are sunk by Uboats and DDs. Also Bismarck became Elite by sinking a US DD. 9 further are sunk in the Channel by the Luftwaffe for the loss of a Do 17.
In Africa Tabora, Albertville and Kindal are mine. In Arabia Aden is taken by cavalry.

PC:
The US parted their destroyer: 10 damaged ones try to return to the next harbour while 9 healthy ones are now off Norway. Off Britain some British ships appear. And I wanted to land on Iceland...

Clearbeard - Thx for your mobilizaton effect on unit explanation. I doublechecked and you were right re the Japanese infantry.

SoldierBlue2 - In my first 1.5 try with UK I was overrun by the Japanese. I restarted and took the offensive. One key is to take out the Thais as early as possible. This focuses the Chinese on the Japanese and helps buy you time.

As stated use artillery and your superior airpower against the Japanese marines and push your tech so you get Matildas. When you get the tech rush the Matildas and get them to the front.

You may lose some ground but you will be able to gradually push them back.

Try to keep the Russians out of it.

Also, you could consider sending an expeditionary force into China to help them hold out. I did this as France and was able to stop them from taking the southern cities. Once they get out of range of their Fighters, a small number of bombers,or a few troops defending a small stack of artillery can wreck them. 6-10 bombers/artillery is enough to seriously slow down their advance until you can build enough troops to stop them permanently. Just watch out for when the Japanese get Zeros; the intercept range of 4 on those will extend their air cover.

Week 49 part 1:
Just a quick report: The Allied forces in the North sea are all sunk by Uboats and DDs. U 2540 is now elite, all but three Uboats regular. U 44 was lost in this fight.

JAPAN 1.3 - Week 50, 1944 - DDay on California post #1

Operation DDay has started !

Our expeditionary forces sended in Alaska are in sight of coast.
The Yamatos begin mass shelling of Anchorage and our Carriers launch their Zeros fighter. Our Zeros are quickly engaged by the USAF in the zone...
We lost 75% of our fighters in this engagement but we get the complete controle of the sky. This allow our diving bombers to take off from our carriers to bomb all airfields and other strategic point on zone.
After that, our forces have successfully landed and captured Anchorage in Alaska.
The goal is to drain, as much as possible US troops and keep them there the maximum amount of time (easying the true landing who will take place in california the nexts weeks...).

I had to launch my attack much sooner than I planned, cos Soviets declared war on week 11  !!! They attacked Danzig with 4 T-26 and sent ~15 infantry cross the border. My 88's easily destroyed coming attack. next week I launched operation Barbarossa.
week 12 - My brand new Panzer IIIg's capture Lublin, Lwow, Odessa, Vilnius, Riga and Tallin :mischief:
week 13 - Captured Sevastopol, attack to Minsk fails due lack of Panzers
week 14 - Minsk falls, Kiev and Kharkov taken
week 15 - Took Novgorod. Soviets offer peace, we refuse, But somehow my mobilisation is set to normal :hmm:
week 16 - Army Group Norway takes Murmansk, Leningrad falls after two weeks siege.

I don't know why, but Soviets haven't sent ANY tanks against me after their first attack , and every way It's been too easy to conquer them. No idea where Soviet main army is, but it is not fighting against me. Might be that now when japanese are stronger, they are also bigger threat to Soviets, and red army is fighting against them. Dunno.
and btw, I'm getting my first Bismark class ship in 3 turns :goodjob:

Ok after extensive play testing as England I have concluded GERMANY KICKED MY BUTT of course I miss managed all of my towns but thats probly because there were so many I had to keep an eye on. Germany and italy were both war mogering powers and Japan I had COMPLETELY forgotten about took just one town off of South Africa. Basically if you want a challange then play as Britian my god the attacks wont stop and not only that there are a crap load of units you have to move EVERY turn.

But after I lost I switched over to germany to see what it was like to play as an axis power (partially I like conquering). My first objective was to take out Poland and any other small countries that lied around germany. Then it was either on to France, Africa, or my biggest goal and probly the most difficult is taking Russia. Russia seems VERY powerful in the begining. And I had to choose to either start my onslaught or sit back and wait till I see an opening and I have enough units.

But all in all I took the easier road to take France then Spain and then Turkey. I want to take turkey cuz 1 it is a choke point I need it. 2 If I want to make a sweep from the bottom of Russia to give a little more chaos to the russians then by god I will.

I had given Japan aluminium, Oil, and Rubber to take on any country that might want to attack it...such as AMERICA or Russia. In 1.3 Japan did a very nice job of taking out China and they started whitleing away at russia. Thats what I want because I will be good friends of the russians and then when they move there forces to take on japan....BOOM I start my campaing to Moscow....Phsycotic I know but who cares.

Really I did not know that of course they have numbers.

Heres a little joke:
Did you hear about the new French rifle?

Ya its got mirrors on the sides so they can see the battle going on behind them as they are running away.

Greetings,
Got some questions about a problem I seem to have. I dl programs then went to play, loaded up on game, then when I got to the configuring part of load process, it seem to take forever to load up the game. No error no nothing. Just the little hour glass icon. Waited 20 minutes before I control-alt-delete to program manager, which said the civ program was not responding? What up? My computer is new, with gobs of ram and memory.

@Davinci

i got 2.0ghz amd with 256, takes 45 minutes to load scenario. Ram isn't the most important thing when loading. the save games in post #9 are good and quick, only 3-4 mins maybe but they are on emperor level, way to easy if you know anythinga bout civ3

 that is some funny stuff

But ya there are a crap load of ships but the more you eliminate the faster the game loads  cuz less units means less waiting....so target all of the small civs first then move towards the bigger people.

the german save game didnt work for me, not sure about others, but then i only using 1.15 not 1.22 or whatever it is.

2.4ghz A64 with 1gig ram here, took 25minutes to load. ram makes a MASSIVE diff to me 512 was REALLY slow 1gig is fine (TET game not this one, always had 1gig with this one)

LBPB, do you plan on taking the roads out, slowing there advance to you? surely they will make them "stuck" even longer?
