Hi Rocoteh,

I've started playing as Finland, i always chose them first to look what the AI does. So far Germany has been kinda slow to take France, all city's taken, but one raze. (Bordeaux) Italy has taken Corsica and Nicosia, but lost Cagliari to the USA, Tunis to the French and Moghadishu to the English.

Japan has a slow start as usual. Balikpapan was razed. (does it have a fake wonder?) Banjarminsin, Makassar, Manilla, Guam and Davao (after a long time) are all under Japanese controll. As usual they razed Yunan.

Finland is geat to play, I spend the first turn to build up and buy rescources. After building up a small force I'm now going after Norway. I have two city left to take over (Bergen and Oslo) Germany has taken Copenhagen.

I have no spies yet so i can't really follow other nations, but so far not much has changed. As Germany has counquered European France I hope to see some fireworks soon

My plans are simple, follow AI progress and build up forces/take over Norway/Sweden.

I'll let you know soon how this playtest ends!

I was mistaken,

The two next turns i see a very agressive AI: Thay have taken Corsica (USA) and Naples (UK) i also had some ships bombard my coastal city's. Luckely German U-boats have come to my aid

Is it normal for your computer to burst into flames during wait times??

Which capacity does your computer have?

Considering the huge map and large number of units its hard to reduce
waiting time between turns more.

Considering its week 44 1940 this is a very slow start for Germany-AI.

There is no fake wonder at Balikpapan.

I'm currently in the midst of a game in 2.4, on puny Warlord, as Japan. It's about Week 17 of 1942, and I've finished off both Chinese contingents, Thailand, Burma, Indo-China, half of Persia, and captured Guam and Dutch Harbor from the Americans very early. I'm currently whipping the British in India - I control the eastern half of India.
Anyway, I know you've released 2.5, so I'm not sure how much good feedback on 2.4 does you, but the Germans continue to raze those 2 southernmost French cities (Toulouse and ???, not Marseilles) as well as Gibraltar. Otherwise, I can't tell what the Germans and Italians are doing in Europe, other than Rimini is now a German city. In Africa, Italy has been dispossessed of all her colonies, by England. And Spain has evidently destroyed Lisbon.

OK, my last post was to let you know how my game was going. THIS post is the real reason I joined the site - I wanted to say THANK YOU for the ultimate C3C scenario - WWII:Global is just freakin' awesome. I've played earlier iterations as Finland, USA, and France, and the scenario is incredible. Every country I've played offers a different and unique set of challenges - I can't imagine the work you've put into this. Keep up the good work, and I hope 2.5 isn't the last update!

Hello, long time lurker here. I just though I'd say I appreciate your work and give you some feedback. I am not sure If I am playing the latest version (I downloaded it a couple weeks ago; the one I am playing has the three eastern Europe axis countries). I am playing as Germany on Emperor level. Overall its been pretty easy, except for Japan attacking Russia twice (once in Mid-1940 and Once in early 1941), both times bringing the entire axis alliance at war with Russia rather early. I am not sure if Japan is just too aggressive or it was the usual accidental submarine attack. I know Spain accidentally attacked me and then accidentally attacked Britain, thus making most of the world at war with Spain.

The other thing that is weird is that the French fortresses remained long after I controlled continental France, but I suppose there is no way to simulate the surrender or attrition of those fortresses.

The other thing I've noticed, is that Italy has no air or sea trade in Africa to allow it to use the oil in Africa to produce tanks in Europe.

Another thing, because of the long time it takes to build railroads, the AI will neglect other more pressing needs (like fixing bombed tiles) because its workers still have 28 more turns to finish a RR. I destroyed all the tiles around London in 1939 and they were still not roaded a year later. What I would really like to see would be worker crews that take 3 or 5 or 7 population each and do the work faster, so I do not need to have 100 workers to build a railroad from Paris to Warsaw.

My question is, how can I keep up with technology? Even at 100% funding, it takes 40 turns. Is this normal?

Bb - It's normal for the beginning of the game. As you get larger and your cities become more developed, research will drop down to more reasonable levels.

Until then, there is no point in having your research at 100%, so put it down to 10% and pull in some cash to use later.

I am very glad to hear that you like the scenario.
As long as there is a substantial interest for WW2-Global there will probably
be more updates.

On the report:

Its possible I will take out Toulouse in version 2.6.
That should make AI less interested in razing cities in South France.

You are playing version 2.4.
The problem with Italy and oil from Africa have been solved in version 2.5.
In version 2.5 a special railroad worker was introduced.

Due to the game-engine its not possible to remove the French fortresses
after the fall of France.

Why?

A strong offencive America (in the pacific and in Italy), Britain and even France. (they conquerd two Japanese islands)

But it was sad to see that Germany, Italy and Japan had almost no progress.

It was only after Finland invaded Russia that Germany made any progress...

I don't know yet, but my next game will be Italy with full agression. I will still try to let Germany and Japan get as strong as they can. But I wil be more active versus allies.

More on my 2.4 game, as Japan. Currently at Week 41 of 1942.
The salient feature of this game so far is the aggressive nature of the Soviets. The Soviets have eliminated Sweden and Turkey (I 'gifted' oil to the Turks, and would like to think I kept 'em in it at least another couple turns. Not sure what the Turkish unit build-path looks like, though, so maybe I didn't do them any good at all...) and have gone to war three times so far with the Allies.
The Sov's have razed AT LEAST the following: Kirkuk;Kuwait;Jerusalem;Alexandria;Dongola;Khartoum;Sabbah;Bisciara (the last 2 started as Italian holdings, but were captured by the Brits); and Triploli.
Also, surprisingly to me, is that the Italians have captured Nicosia, and Zaragosa (I guess Franco got a little full of himself after whuppin the Portugese at Lisbon and decided he should declare on the Axis! Mussolini's new Roman legions brought him back to reality by grabbing Zaragosa. )
The Soviets declared on Germany several turns back, dragging me into it with the Soviets. I promptly took Vladivostock, Vanino, and Bulgan (I believe that's the Mongolian city), and fought a real donnybrook with the Reds in a mountain pass near Kabul - thank goodness for the solid defensive value of Japanese infantry! Those Soviet T-34's are NASTY! (GREAT graphics on the T-34's, BTW - kudo's to whoever did those!)
Also interesting is that despite the Soviets' apparent bloodthirstiness vs the British, ALL of the Axis minor European powers are still intact, despite the Axis-Soviet dust-up. I'm shocked the Soviets didn't roll right over Bulgaria, Hungary, and at least half of Romania. Having played an earlier game as Finland, though, I can understand why Finland is still intact - those 9-12 Finnish infantry units are no joke.
The Brits are down to 4 cities in India, and they still own Singapore. My offensive against the Brits is being slowed considerably, and units are being siphoned off, by my (paranoid?) desire to heavily garrison my cities that border the Soviets. We will certainly be crossing swords again, and I want to be ready, not just to hold my own, but to grab some more territory from Stalin and Co.
Once I own India, my attention will shift southward, to Australia. I'm VERY curious to see how tough a nut Australia will be to crack....

Its possible I will add more fortress-units for Turkey in 2.6 to
make a an invasion less interesting for Soviet.

The risk for an early war between the Axis and Soviet have been
reduced in version 2.5 compared with 2.4.

An update on my 2.4 game, as Japan -
up to Week 13, 1943, and since the last update:
- I have pushed the British off the Malay peninsula and out of India, with the exceptions of Madurai and Colombo (I know, technically Colombo isn't part of India...)
- I captured the last 3 Dutch cities, eliminating the Dutch
- during another short-lived round of war with the Soviets, I captured Khabarovsk and Ulan Bator
- during the same Axis-Soviet clash, the Germans captured Lutsk (after previously capturing Smolensk, Liepaja (sp?), Brest-Litovsk, and Gomel
- somehow, the Finns captured and still control Gorki - I have no idea how that could be.....
- no Axis cities have been lost to the Soviets
- in the European theatre, it's pretty stagnant, except:
- England captured Zaragosa from the Italians, only to have the Germans take it from them
- America took Corsica from the Germans

As to the Americans, they are not very aggressive towards me (at least so far). They will occasionally send one or two submarines toward the Home Islands; or sometimes 1 convoy, covered by a single battleship (though not yet an Iowa class...) or by a single destroyer. My homeland defenders have proven more than adequate to stop these incursions.

Next steps are: 1) begin massing ground, air, air defense, and naval forces in Indonesia, for a push on Australia (first target: Darwin); 2)assemble a task force to assault and capture Honolulu; 3) push the British out of Madurai and Colombo; and 4) continue preparations for the next round of war with the USSR - next targets are Taluma and Komsomolsk

The war has definitely settled into a grind, with as many logistics concerns as strategic/tactical ones. I think I read that the Japanese can build convoys in 2.5 - this should ease the logistics of a far-flung Japanese campaign somewhat.

Anyway, as I've said before, great scenario, big fun! Already looking forward to completing this one and dl'ing 2.5 - I think I'll have a go as the Soviets next - What I could do with a stack of KV's and T-34's!!

But I think there's a problem with the railroad system in 2.5 :
The Combat Engineer is able to build RR what makes the Railroad Construction unit useless.

This was the same point in my last post in this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6003843&postcount=7631).

Either evry worker of a civ can build railroads or none. If this ability is subtracted, the worker looses the "terraform"-flag. But it´s possible to connect the "build-railroad-ability" to an era-none tech and to not allow all civs to have access to that tech. Then workers of civs that don´t have access to that tech can still perform all worker jobs but can´t enable the railroad-flag, that these workers must have, too.
