Yeah, how many times has this game crashed on you?

Needless to say this game crashes quite often. I have 512mb of Corsair XMS memory,Geforce 6600GT 128mb agp video card & an AMD 2.167 mhz proc.

Only 1 crash ever way back before the first patch.

Your main problem is not enough RAM. 512 is just not enough in general these days. Bump that up to 1 gig and that should help a lot, 2 gig if you can afford it.

I believe your video card is just fine but I don't have a Geforce. No one else mentioned it so far so it's probably ok.

Your processor is a bit slow but should be ok.

And what else do you have running? With just 512 meg just windows alone will take up nearly half that. Make sure you've got all the garbage programs like Norton closed and what not running in the background. I have 1 gig of RAM and I typically run around 210 megs of resident programs running in the background while sitting idle. Civ 4 runs fine. I think a lot of people's problems is they don't really know what's running in the background. Just because a program isn't open on the desktop doesn't mean it's not running. Check out task manager to see what's up.

I've never crashed, no slow downs, runs fine. I'm still running original build ( no patch). but I've got 2 gigs of ram. I think you should add 1 gig if you can afford it, 512 if not. I have an 6600gt its a great card so I don't think its your problem

Never on a release build.

After the crash the screen goes black then a message about Civ4.exe has caused an unknown error....anyone else get this problem?

This only happens to me if I play a Large map, which obviously my computer can't handle. Using low graphics should help you out if that's what's happening.

Well, I've only been playing it for a week now but I've been playing it a lot....and I do mean a lot....as in losing sleep like I used to do in CIV2. SO far no crash, just pretty good performance on my AMD 2, 128MB 9600SE and 1 GB Kingston ram.:)

Maybe once, and I't not even sure about that one.

Never crashed.

The game locked up once in a multi game when I was trying to fix some chat problems and was fiddling with my mic . . . Wait that didn't come out quite right. :)

I can't remember any crash, but maybe I have had a couple of crashes. It's very stable for me. Only the movies that run poorly.

Never. Not once. Just about the most stable game I've seen.
