Which leader of the USSR was the best?

All that was done by the Soviet leaders destroyed Russia. It is too much from their party was mistakes. As Lenin and Stalin I consider such people not as smaller criminals than Hitler.

You know, my country never had anything similar to the soviet propaganda apparatus. In fact, no nation in history ever came close to the levels of Stalinist Russia in terms of propaganda.

Read russian historians, if your nationalism is skeptical of foreign sources. Read Volkogonov. He was the chief historian of the Soviet Army, and also a General. Will you argue that he does not know the facts?

I don't believe that statistic. And if it's true then it would mean that 53% of the russians are clueless.

Oh, really? I'm studying at university now, and professor which teach us logic is stalinist. Is he clueless too?

Supposing those staistica are correct, it would only mean that 53% of the russians are, as I said, clueless.
Now that I think about it is very reasonable, after all the russians had to swallow massive propaganda for 7 decades, and the peak was precisely during Stalin's reign. It is no wonder that such propaganda had a lasting effect. Also there is the melancholia associated with a time when Russia was a super-power(in theory, at least).
 
As our Russian friend might note, we are much more likely discussing the downfalls of our own leaders than those of others. (With the possible exception of President Bush)

To say we are overly critical of Stalin or Communist Russia is completely false. To further claim anyone educated in soviet Russia has a better grasp on reality than one otherwise educated, also vary far from true..

His stupid politics???? He is the one who understood that freedom of speech and open criticisms are what makes society improve. He understood that the government should serve the people and not the other way around.

He withdrew troop from East European because he knew that oppression can never force people to believe in Communism. As we have seen, all those communist nations revolted because people of all those nations do no believe in communism. His decision was correct because he stood up for the truth. He doesn't want to retain a phony or a fake empire that was built by the military and not by the people.

USSR ceased to be the number one or the number two country long times before Gorbachev's rule. USSR was never ever a one single uniformed nation. Not all people believe in it and what it stood for. Some were forced to join and to admit they were a part of the USSR. For example, in the 1991, "Ukraine declared its independence from the USSR after a popular referendum in which 90% of voters opted for independence" (wikipedia), and many other soviet declared they were not a part of Soviet Union afterward. All those Soviets were forced to join the USSR because the communists forced all of them to join.

Also, do you know that criticizing the great leader of the Communist party such as Gorbachev will get you in trouble under Soviet rule? The secret police would be watching you. If Gorbachev did not initiate the glasnost, people of Russia would not be able to enjoy the pleasure of free speech. :lol:

Most of the public schools in US teach school children (high school level) the atrocity Americans have done to the American Indians. It is acknowleged by the public that American Indians were mistreated by the US government.

In 2005, US Senators have introduced a RESOLUTION OF APOLOGY TO THE NATIVE PEOPLES this year. US will officially apologize to the American Indians.

If the US can admit they are wrong, why can all Stalin supporters and the Russian government and the Soviet leaders admit that the USSR under Stalin did something wrong?

Thre are more than 200 different natives. We didn't kill any of them they live and prosper and keep their own culture and language as is.

Gjrbachev was the worst ladder 'cuz he didn't give people rights. he started anarchy in the country , and I can't say which was the best, no one of answers iz right, but i choosed Khrushev 'cuz he started mass buliding in half destroyed country and stopped repressions
