Yet another ATI problem, help would be appreciated

I have looked through some threads about simlir things but its just too damn many threads about bugs or I have a less common problem...

I get some strange flickers and it looks like the layers of graphics are fighting over the space on the screen, most common is that my minimap becomes black and the square that shows the view paints the black with white squares...Also, leaders of factions not showing up is pretty common.

Im not sure about the last one but I have seen the furthest out zoom without hurricanes all over the planet. My current view:

Forgot to say; I got a ATI Radeon 9600 pro.

More wonderful even, I just had my first crash and I got the ATI error thingie...

try third party drivers like Omega drivers or DNA drivers

I have the same card as you and I use the older Catalyst 4.12 version. Don't use the new 5.11 version because I was CTD and having the same problem as you're having. I also took the advice of drachasor and it has greatly improved my over all game performance. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=145238

How about other games? I play other newer games aswell, 4.12 works good in general?

5.11 on 9500 Pro, no major problems.

I saw the pic before I read the text and thought you were playing in antarctica or something.

Haha, I just think there's some trouble with the transparent layers here but FIXED with 4.12, yay! Thanks for the good advice
