you working class, middle class or upper class ?

Which still probably isn't enough time to see the Cubs win the world series.

definitely working class, the Australian term is "tradie" which often puts us slightly above some professional classes in terms of income or house size/value, or rate of new car buying etc. which only betrays my London working class roots...

Don't care, I'm comfortable class.

People who get larger paychecks don't do the work to merit such pay, no. No one makes over five figures honestly. You may be awarded money, but there's really no difference between the salary of a corporate lawyer and a baseball player to me. Neither salary is legitimate.

And as you might guess, I'm working class. ;)

Five figures is 10,000 to 99,999. Hardly takes dishonesty to make that.

There was a recentish documentary with the associate illuminatus John Prescott going round the country investigating the class system, while indulging himself in his customary long vowel movements.

I quite lliked the response from a cutish denizen of a council tower block somewhere out there:

"I'm not working class. I don't work"

According to some definitions of the OP link I'm working class, according to others I'm middle class. I don't fit any of the upper class definitions, unfortunately.

lower middle class.

I was a bit surprised to learn through my tax returns that I joined the lower rung of the middle class this year. It's nice to be moving upward - the year before we were solidly in the working class. I have to acknoledge the help I recieved from my parents (they practically furnished my whole apartment) - not having to buy lots of basic necessities to just get set up on your own affords you a bit nicer of a lifestyle while allowing you to save.

If it hadn't been for all the things like free furniture, I don't think I'd feel like middle class at all as I would probably just be scraping by.

I don't really know but I'd guess I'm at some level of the middle class. Are you guys comparing your salaries to the geographical average? If I was making what I make here in Toronto for example, I'd have to move down the ladder a bit, as the cost of living is a lot higher there. I'd also make more there, but ..

Oh I just compared it to the lower cutoff that wikipedia states as middle class in the US (>$25,000/yr). I think that for Rolla, middle class is probably a bit less than 25k/year, but I could be wrong. The university really scews the income distribution here. Basically, people working for the university in Rolla get a generous portion of the tax dollars that are sucked out of the rest of the state, but the people who don't work for the university don't get as much of a benefit. So I don't know how that all effects the cost of living, but in the end it's still pretty cheapish.
