Your 2 favorite Games other than Civ games

Two, can't cut it down to two, that is inhuman. I guess I could list the 2 I am playing the most recently, other than civ.

Diablo LoD
MOO

Currently I've now moved on to IL-2 Sturmovik Series and Neverwinter Nights. Just the way the gamer in me works. It was Civ4 and Hearts of Iron 2 until then.

After thinking long and hard, I'd say my two ultimate favourite games other than Civ would be Outcast and TIE Fighter

Ooooh TIE Fighter! :goodjob:
The best starwars game ever and also one of the best space fighting games.

Indeed, indeed. I'm glad they also haven't decided to attempt a prequel series. Four games, all great, leave it there :goodjob:

Wait.. four games? X Wing (had some great moments), TIE Fighter (excellent), X Wing vs. TIE Fighter (never played) .. which one am i missing?

I recall an X-Wing Alliance ... is it the same as X-wing ?

X-Wing: Alliance, takes place after the Battle of Hoth in Empire Strikes Back and concludes with the Battle of Endor (including the tunnel run :D ) from Return of the Jedi.

That earned you some extra geek points. :p

I could have gone on to mention how it also includes a mission featuring Dash Rendar and the Outrider, the desperate struggle to assist the Bothan Spies retrieve the Death Star II plans, and the capture of the shuttle Tyderium

I'll stop now.

Wasn't the shuttle mission in TIE fighter? I distincly remember having to capture a shuttle. It took me dozens of reloads.

There was a capture the shuttle mission (IIRC, you were rescuing Palpatine) in TIE Fighter.

This one however, was for the Rebel Alliance to use to sneak onto Endor's moon to deactivate the Death Star shield.

Yeah, you'r right! It was Palpatine!
Btw, what you plan to spend your geekpoints on? I'm still looking for investments...

Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2.

Secret of Mana & Final Fantasy 9

Hrm... Hard to pick just two. I could maybe manage 2 for every genre I play. =P
RPG: I'm gonna go with Final Fantasy 2 - NES version, though unfortunately I can't find a ROM that isn't buggy like mad, so I've just been playing Dawn of Souls on the GBA. I prefer it to Origins because the dialogue seems more natural and Frionel (Firion)'s portrait looks like -ing Cecil in Origins, which I just don't approve of. Isn't there ENOUGH confusion about FF2 vs. FF4 already?!
And... I don't know, Villgust? That game was so ridiculously cheesey. I mean, the main villain?
Spoiler :
Your girlfriend. Your girlfriend is the main villain.

That just makes it awesome, even if it IS a levelling festival.
FPS: Actually, there's only one good FPS in my opinion and that isn't Half-Life 2 or Halo. It's Unreal Tournament 2004. Wanna argue? Hit me on MSN and I'll Redeem you.
Adventure: It's a tossup between Metroid: Zero Mission (Metroid 1 remake for the GBA) and Super Metroid for slot one. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past reserves one spot, of course.
Fighting: Gundam Wing: Endless Duel is the most fun I've ever had in a fighting game. Shaq Fu gets slot two simply because it's Shaq Fu. If you don't get why that's awesome already, something is Wrong With You.
Strategy: Tough one... Really tough. WarCraft II will forever hold a place in my heart, but the superior strategy game is C&C: Generals...then there's Black & White, SD Gundam X, Tactics Ogre... I guess I'll pick Black & White and Generals.

So many good games out there...so many unplayed. I've *almost* got the SNES covered...

Following Avelon's example:

RPG:
Planescape: Torment. The best RPG game published.
Final Fantasy VII or Grandia2: Nice story, and story is the only thing I look for in Japanese-style RPGs.

Adventure:
Grim Fandango. A piece of art.
Syberia 1 & 2

Fighting:
Guilty Gear XX # Reload: Midnight Carnival
D&D Tower of Dome & Shadow over Mystara (arcade)

Strategy:
Heroes of Might & Magic series
Civilization series
