For all the beauty that one can extract from compiling the greatest encyclopedia on everything, Wikipedia sure has a lot of quirks, oddities, and absurdities, some of which are absolutely hilarious.

One I found just now:

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinaman's_chance

"The figure of speech has met some criticism in the United States for the fact it uses the word Chinaman.[citation needed]"

Although it's been removed, I remember once seeing something on the George Harrison article to the effect of "OMG ALL THINGS MUST PASS WAS THE BESTEST ALBUM EVER IN THE WORLD!! YESSSSSSSSS!!! IT ROCKS!!!"

Don't ask.

Good idea for an OP. But what a lousy example. I read the explanation and its very factual. Are you saying you didn't know that? What's the difference between saying that or to "welsh" on a bet? Both fairly racist and not funny at all. What's your problem?:crazyeye:

EDIT I'd be far more interested in somebody coming up with a wiki entry that's factually wrong.

The worst i've found are political parties being linked to their opponents websites. I fixed em. As well as some mistakes on a UFC one. Fixed it as well.

If you want one that's factually wrong, a current one is Admiral Darlan's page. He was shot twice, not however many times it says. There are many errors on wrestling pages, but they tend to be corrected by people who actually know what they're talking about, then changed back by fourteen year old boys taking a break from masturbating and growing large from tacos.

One hilarious wrestling page was that on the WWE Light-Heavyweight Championship, which has been fixed now. A guy changed it to say the title was for people under the age of 18, and had a very long, detailed history in which Christian Cage, a legitimate wrestler, won the belt at the age of 9 and retired at 14, and was not considering a comeback, as despite being the greatest champion ever, he needed to concentrate on his schoolwork. I quite literally fell from my chair.

My favourite Wiki page was that of the novel 'Gadsby: Champion of Youth', which famously does not contain the letter e. The editors had cleverly connived it so that the article did not contain that letter, either, but the Admins or Mods or whatever you call the Wiki top brass who take everything too seriously (who by the way are the worst people ever) ruined it by complaining. Now there are some paragraphs which contain e, and some that do not.

I also saw on Wikipedia something about Tom Petty breaking up the Heartbreakers during Full Moon Fever and getting them back together afterwards, NOT TRUE. THE HEARTBREAKERS NEVER BROKE UP. But it's gone now.

Also, looking through the discussion:
the page mentions Tom was born and raised in Gainesville, but in the bar on the side it states French Lick, Indiana. These seem to contradict each other.
Seriously...
At least that's gone now.

One time I searched in Cocoa Puffs and someone had changed everything in the article to; "NO ONE WANTS TO READ ABOUT . .. .. .. .ING COCOA PUFFS, DUMBASS."

I like the sports-related smack talk. There's some good stuff in there.

I once added a paragraph to Gary Danielson (a college football sportscaster) saying he came out of the closet due to his unbridled lust for Tim Tebow. Anyone who watches SEC games will understand the joke.

"The figure of speech has met some criticism in the United States for the fact it uses the word Chinaman.[citation needed]"

If the "citation needed"-part is the funny thing, I suppose it refers to the criticism, not to the usage of word "chinaman".

Not Wikipedia i know, but Conservapedia's article on Obama is awesome http://www.conservapedia.com/Barack_Obama

It's a riot. Also look at the discussion-part. While they did notice that Obama is muslim because only 1% of muslims convert to christianity, they didn't notice that he had lied his name: less than 1% of people have intials B.O. I'd like to point out also that he is not the president of the USA, because much less than 1% of people hold that title.

One of the funniest thing's I've ever seen: On the Macon's Bill Number 2 Article, it briefly said "Thomas Jefferson did a disco dance to bribe the British :D" Or something along those lines.

George Harrison was never a part of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. :mischief:
