Say what you will, but no other guitarist sounds like Yngwie, and very few play at that speed (or if they do, it sounds patently awful at that speed).Malmsteen?
You obviously like him, however speaking as someone who used to be quite able to play guitar at high speed i can tell you that it is not that difficult to play endless solo, and i am not arguing that it is nothing either, just noting that it is not as impressive as your post suggested.
Personally i found that composition he was playing to be really very dull and lifeless...
Don't be silly. Plenty of rock guitarists don't compose anything, and besides, if Itzhak Perlman ever composed anything, it wasn't significant enough for me to hear of it. Whether or not Perlman can write worth a damn doesn't matter squat to his fans, and it shouldn't.Moreover no virtuoso is remembered if he could not compose anything. Paganini would have been forgotten if he did not leave behind something with a distinct theme that makes an impression.
I do find it curious that you would compare Malmsteen to a prominent classical performer though. That says a lot right there.
