Malmsteen?
You obviously like him, however speaking as someone who used to be quite able to play guitar at high speed i can tell you that it is not that difficult to play endless solo, and i am not arguing that it is nothing either, just noting that it is not as impressive as your post suggested.
Personally i found that composition he was playing to be really very dull and lifeless...
Say what you will, but no other guitarist sounds like Yngwie, and very few play at that speed (or if they do, it sounds patently awful at that speed).

Moreover no virtuoso is remembered if he could not compose anything. Paganini would have been forgotten if he did not leave behind something with a distinct theme that makes an impression.
Don't be silly. Plenty of rock guitarists don't compose anything, and besides, if Itzhak Perlman ever composed anything, it wasn't significant enough for me to hear of it. Whether or not Perlman can write worth a damn doesn't matter squat to his fans, and it shouldn't.

I do find it curious that you would compare Malmsteen to a prominent classical performer though. That says a lot right there. :p

This breaks the thread rule, but there was never an official music video for this song, and I was very excited to find a version online (since I don't have access to my harddrive at home right now). Very professionally done, though it doesn't fit with my impression from the song, as it takes a more sexual approach (the song is sexual, of course).

Prince - Erotic City (7:02)

Very funky and futuristic sound. I always get a nostalgic feeling for the future (paradoxical, yes) when hearing this song-think Blade Runner or the underbelly in A.I..

This also breaks the rules, but its really good and the artist died very young a long long time ago, im not even sure there is any video with Art Pepper anywhere, plus the footage is very soothing, so here you go:

Art Pepper - The Trip

enjoy! i do every once in a while.

:bump:

I'm not that big a fan of Coldplay, bar a couple of songs. This is one of them, and the video is excellent. All reverse and what not.

Coldplay - The Scientist

Also this live version of David Gray's Babylon, which everyone demands him to sing at his concerts, and he gets a huge crowd participation when he does. Also he does his patented 'head wiggle' here and there, which is always amusing.

David Gray - Babylon
