YuiNES1 - 2000B.C.

Hooray! Now all I need to work on is the size. It's a png, a resize image wasn't checked...

Spoiler :

woop woop!

ok.

Here's what I need you to do. email me your map file

(slozenger@hotmail.co.uk)

I'll check it over.

If I can upload it fine, we will have to experiement futher!

.png won't change anything all the maps I posted were .gif and they were fine.

Yui are you changing the map in any way in paint? Besides changing the borders of nations?

Are you opening these images in any other program before you edit or upload them?

Basically all I do is open the map in MS picture and fax viewer. Then open it in paint and make the changes only to borders I don't touch anything else. Upload to imageshack with no options ticked. I then copy the direct link of the picture. Go to the forums hit the insert image thing copy the link in there then put spoiler tags around it and done.

Get GIMP, Paint.NET, or anything more advanced than MS Paint. They give you a bunch of options to optimize filesize on stuff.

But there shouldnt be any issues anyway with MSpaint.. lets not complicate things where possible.

Abaddon, A lot of things get less complicated with advanced tools. Like getting the exact color of things, mass-selection of single colors, removing nasty anti-alias (instead of manually redrawing over lines; this also reduces filesize), layers for avoiding mistakes, and many, many other things.

You see, advanced tools weren't made to make things harder--rather, the reality is quite the opposite. If it weren't, we'd still be in the stone age.

Case in point: Symphony D.'s citied map. I dare you to single out the cities using MSPaint only.

Yes, but that is like asking a Chimp to build a computer!

We're still on the "shape into corresponding hole" level of intelegence!

All the things you list may well be useful, but they are not needed in reality.

Advanced tools are useful in their place, but I do not agree they are required in this NES.

An i'll decline to comment on SD's map as my comments are well documented elsewhere.

They are not needed, like the complex economy we have right now or the computer your using to argue against convenience. They make things easier, like the toilet or the shower (you don't need them, but they make crapping and a taking bath a whole lot easier).

I did not ask you to comment on Symphony D.'s map. I simply dared you to single out the cities with MS Paint--you could decline or you could try.

Another case in point would be a map with many nations and you're bound to use similar colors. If they touch by necessity, what then? Manual recolor? What if the other had a massive colonial empire with tiny dot islands? Doesn't having shift-fill make things a whole less troublesome, giving you more time to write than to edit maps?

OK.. well how will teaching Yuri how to use these other programs stop him from somehow shrinking the world map when he uploads it?

For the record, I commented on filesize (because I know with proper tweaking with a sufficiently advanced picture editing program, as well as other auxiliary tools it can be optimized), and argued for convenience.

For that specific problem, a step-by-step tutorial on how to upload without accidental resize is necessary. Go ahead and give a screenshot-by-screenshot tutorial. :)

EDIT: Here:
tutwo6.gif

Trying to do fire text is harded than I thought (some little extra I waste my time with, don't emulate my time-wastingness)! I couldn't get the black to go transparent--Oh wait, I could, but it's just stupidity trying to get a white-bright yellow-bright orange piece of text to appear against a white background.

Next time, ask that in WWW (definitely related to NESing, albeit one with too simple an answer) or a picture-editing forum.

I don't usually crop, but I'd probably go about it the way Harvest Moon taught me. I'd beat the ground senseless then toss seeds about.

If I recall my AutoCAD lessons correctly, you have to type "tc [x coordinate],[y coordinate]" or something to that effect, but I usually use my mouse anyway.

In picture editing, I usually use the selection tools to either [Del] or "crop to selection" (latter not applicable with MS Paint or similarly neolithic picture editors). Or I resize the canvas and move the picture accordingly.

<thread derailed!>

Yea...can we have the whole map issue happen over PMs or anything not on the thread? Also, can we have the last of the corrections to the stats made? And lastly, can we get an update...because I would really like to see this thing go somewhere.

The Update is 75% done.I just don't know what to do with the map, because I don't think I should put it out till the map is done and my map time is really not good right now.

"my map time is really not good right now" does not compute..

"my map time is really not good right now" does not compute..

Oh,sorry. My mom has to use the good computer, the one that has memory left and a working mouse for job applications.:(. I can still grab some time, but often I just have to start back at square 1

Well how many orders are you still missing? You can delay an update a few days in order to get everything together.

I'm missing Charles(grounded lol), Flavius (?), you (map issues). Which is like 30%. But I know I'm not going to get the first two so I'm going ahead with it after a few final attempts to enlarge.

I thought on your computer the map is the right size?
