YuiNES1-Update 3 1700 B.C.- When push comes to shove
.
The Americas
The Californian Civilization continues to prosper on the west coast of the new world, reeling in massive profits from its trading business. Their Lord BeavaWolpa IV has declared a state based on ideals of free living and money. Prostitution has hit new highs in this pleasure oriented part of the world, much to the outcry of some more warlike conservative northern tribes, though they were quickly quieted by the go-go dancer clan.
The Olmecs and the Cubans are continuing their domination of the Caribbean Sea, destroying the last Caribe tribesmen and planting new colonies seemingly everywhere they go. TarvKa, the capital of Cuba is continuing to flourish greatly and is becoming THE center of trade in the Mediterranean Sea. The Cubans have begun new programs to make it the trading center of the Caribbean, a very solid plan considering its strong central position. Severely new colonies have taken root in modern day Hispaniola and Louisiana, yet their degree of autonomy is yet to be determined
Their has been a major trade hike in the eastern half of Cuba, upon the discovery of Cassava Bread a delicious and filling meal made from a green native shrub. A long and tapered root shrub, perhaps if the monarchy harnesses this great asset they may yield an even greater trading stronghold. The Cubans have also begun producing a new crop tobacco, while it is still a minority crop used by a few locals, its usage may spread
Another recent Cuban invention is the hammock
And finally the Incan Civilization, based in the Andes, continues to flourish in South America. It facilitates great building projects, due to the fact that a great deal of its upper class is greatly paranoid of losing their absolute power, and have already begun several massive expensive jungle enclosed building projects.
The Mediterranean
The Iberics continue to establish a strong civilization based in the large peninsula. They have developed a deadly new kind of knife, the falcata. Their new ruler, the so called Lady of Baza, preaches a message of peace and cultural resurrection, yet a willingness to defend themselves if the need arises. Her figurehead husband, Lord Elx, is a much more warlike man, but is likely unable to do anything of meaning.
North of them, a new civilization, the Cisalpine has evolved to counter the colonizing threat posed by the colonialist Tunes and Phoenicians. In light of a recent agreement to civilize the lesser known reaches of the world and bring them under their extremely wealthy influence. Obviously, some of the natives fail to see the benefits of this plan.
The Tunite Civilization has also sought to colonize some new Iberic territories, more regions in the southern coast of Gaul, farther North into Italy, into Sardinia, and finally to exert a massive colonial presence into Tunisian North Africa ( Justo, you get your Slave IC this turn). Every endeavor but the Gallic and Italian ones have met with, for now at least a great deal of success. During the early part of the century, the Tunites attempted expansion into Italy. This has been sharply resisted by the organizing Latin Clans. The wise King Perpold ultimately saw the pointlessness of such efforts, and now in an unprecedented massive effort, the Phoenician and the Tune fleet combined to exert their joint massive efforts over the great sea. While a few minor skirmishes occurred between the, for now, cooperating major powers, these were mostly due to Babel like situations.
But in an event that sent repercussions around the known world, the beloved King Perpold died, heirless in a tragic case of scurvy on the high seas. This led to a military coup in the once stable kingdom of Tune with Warlord Kurlu and his men seizing power after a costly civil war. By the time the colonial usurper has been deposed in favor of the righteous Council of Tune by returning colonial legions, the damage had been done, both by the formation of the Cisalpines, loss of men, and economic stagnation. Yet now the Council of Tune has reformed itself to prevent any such disastrous civil war from occurring again.
The new council of Tune comprises of the 50 richest men (and women?) in the Tunnite Empire, and their head vassal, or the king of Tunisia. They have representative elections once every five years to determine the new supremo, or leader. This new system has been mostly effective, yet unfortunately, as like most Republics, are subject to the occasional lame duck monarchs. A montage of both colonial defeats and successes as well as the rebirth of Mediterranean trade have highlighted the reign of the new supremos.
In a very fortunate turn of events for Tune, a large group of wealthy traders who left the island during the civil war and left to found a colony on Illlyria later returned and reconciled with the Council and the Supremos, and rejoined the union. This has brought a knowledge of a great deal of native peoples into their realm.
The Tunisians, while filing minor objections to the rather oppressive terms for the en masse shipment of slaves, as well as the military size limits, acquiesced acknowledging they had no other reasonable option. The current reign has been highlighted by nothing more and nothing less than minor African expansion and the raiding antics of bellicose Berber tribesmen. .They have been forced every few decades to pay massive tributes of hundreds of slaves to the might Tunes and seek to find a way around selling their own countrymen
The Phoenicians have established several large colonies alongside the Tunnic ones, under the reign of the great king Polymathas. The arts of religion and science have had a flowering under the liberal Phoenicians. Also, their triremes have consistently overshadowed, piratical and otherwise, any other naval craft on the high seas.
Additional, the Phoenicians have established a set of colonies on Africas west coast, mostly led by conservatives to escape the so called Phoenician Moral Lawlessness of their homeland.
In European news, the Iberics have turned to a new god Talish to protect themselves from the seemingly unstoppable assault of the oncoming Tune colonizers. A grand new temple has been commissioned in his name in their capital city.
Also, the Germanics have ceased expansion and production, due to what many believe to be inner turmoil among their lose warlord system
In Greece the growth of Thebes as a vital city in the Corinthian Trading System has elevated it to become one of the most important, richest, and cultured cities in the entire Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The Philosopher John Lockopolis has fermented some very important ideas for the development of Greek society. As well, the extremely powerful Athenian Yuslanto family, to parallel their southern neighbors the Minoans have also begun some exploration expeditions into western Asia Minor, which have been, insofar quite successful. And finally, in order to counter the military might of the Mycenaean war machine, the Corinthians have developed a new way of fighting, in the hoplitic fashion and a new great monument the so called Oracle of Olympic Mountain to give them power in war.
The Mycenae and Minoans have continued the power surge apparent in all Greek cities, especially in their capitals, with continued Northward and Eastern expansion. The Minoans are also looking to become a major trading partner of the new bi-polar Phoenicia-Tune trading world.
Spotlight/War
In what has long been expected to be a massive Middle Eastern showdown, finally the Albons have made the first move. Led by general Hishput they have surged down the great rivers in overwhelming force, dealing seemingly fatal blows to the shattered Assyrian empire, its powerful warlords still seemingly unable to rally together and bring their advantages to shove. But finally, with the Assyrian Empire on its last legs, a powerful warlord, Butchezek rallied the remaining men of the Assyrian Armies and presented an organized defense to the Albons.
Yet the damage has been done. Most of their major cities have been taken, and their former southern territories but now consist of little more than a starving sliver of land supplied by boat with a supply of food and wood. Most know realize, on both sides, that nothing more than a coherent Albonian offense will destroy the Assyrians once and for all.
Finally we turn to Asia
.
In the Japanese Empire, a formerly disunified and patchwork coalition of warlords has been seized control of by a powerful Emperor named Manomi Tanakahashi. He has appointed a series of shoguns, related and otherwise to large military and economic positions of power in the Empire. They have sought to exploit Japans mineral resources to reinvigorate and power their trading force.
Massive deposits of tin have been found in Japan!
As well, shogun Masaru Tanakahashi has led a massive home army of 600 men to take the entirety of the main Japanese island. They have found very little resistance from the native people, yet more so from their own men and stretched lines of supply. They managed to take the majority of the main island and also came into a rather forced inheritance of a large portion of Kyushu(the north island?).
In addition a massive Japanese invasion of the Asian mainland has been launched and has been quite successful taking a large coastal portion. As well, they have begun a blockade of the opposing Korean Empire. Yet if Japan continues to seek to overstretch its young empire, their may be grave consequences
And lastly in the dawning kingdom of Taiwan a series of developments has begun. Upon the reigning kings deathbed, he expressed his wishes that a Great Library to honor all knowledge and love of the gods be created. Under his son his wish has begun to be granted, with progress well into. Also, in a very unfortunate confrontation, during the Japanese blockade of Korea, the Taiwanese believed this was to be war, and sent their fleet to act for their Korean allies. By the time anything could be straightened out between the Japanese and the Taiwanese, the damage had been done, and the Japanese now vigorously seek reparations
