YUINES1 - 2000 B.C.
Hey everyone. You probably know my name at least from several of the NES’s I’ve enjoyed participating in over the last few months. As the scholastic year winds’ to a close (cue collective sigh of teenaged relief) I have decided to start a NES. As you could probably guess from the title of the thread, this will be a Fresh Start NES. I have taken aspects from the greatly enjoyable JNES, as well as the late great JalNES I (Thanks North King!). For the first 2-3 turns updates will probably come pretty fast and fairly well done. After we have entered the Iron Age and begun some serious development, I would like to settle into a pattern of 4 days for orders, and then I get 3 days to publish the update. If we’re lucky, I may be able to do it in less. As well, if the current situation seems to allow it, I will pull up the order deadline from 2-3 days.
Let’s try and get orders in quickly to keep this nice and fast paced for everyone. As this is my first NES there won’t be too many NPC’s as I don’t want to get too slow on updates and diplomacy and therefore make it a lot less fun for everybody. I will simply place them in critical yet under habited areas, as well as when I think an area needs to be made more interesting. As something I have picked up from the various moderators I talked too, it’s more fun to have colorful NPC’s so I will do my best to make them act out from the other, sane nations. The final thing I have to say regarding NPC’s as well they won’t be quite as strong as player characters I really don’t want it to be – Sweet I have to NPC’s bordering me! Free land! - so you can’t just easily roll them up.
Regarding update length I think I’m going to aim for a few Microsoft Word pages of info as well as one regional spotlight per update. I will try and include any cool looking and pertinent images I can find for the update! Please tell me if there is a minor stat issue with the update, as I’m not perfect. If you have a bigger issue with the update just contact me with IM (If you don’t have Aim fine, p.m. but I really prefer AIM).
Also much like other Fresh Starts, the rules will progress by technological advancements in your nations. I will add rules as we go on, and towards the beginning one or two will be added per turn. The major changes will be once we reach a new technological age. Towards the beginning on your stats you will all be equal with only a few minor advantages or disadvantages. Towards the start age advancement will largely relate to OTL and trade. Once we get to later ages though, it will go much faster or slower depending on how much the various nations would like to invest in technological funding for their nation. Note that you cannot directly pour research money into a certain tech but you can fund your nation so to make conditions ripe for technological advancement.
I’m going to be slightly more restrictive in where you are allowed to settle in this NES. If you want to settle anywhere outside of
- The Near East, the Mediterranean, Europe, North Africa
- India and China
- Mexico and the Californian coast
I want you to give a good reason. Note that good just means a little bit of proof meaning a civilization could survive and a decent nation description for why they want to rough it out in the hinterlands!
For now that’s all.
Description
For your people, the sun rises on a new dawn. For them it is nothing but another day, of a cycle upon which seemingly endless turmoil and suffering await them. Unbeknownst to all but the seers of the age, it is the dawning of a new era. Will you lead your people to numerousness and prosperity, or failure and extermination? Do you have a thirst for power, or a heart for peace? The roads splits here my friend…
