The Mediterranean

The mighty Sicilian Empire of Tune is peaking under the reign of the forceful king Plotomac. The Tunean monarchy will likely never be the same, due to a joint ruling system between the monarchs and the council of Tune, arising under the monarchy’s vulnerable era in the regency of young king Kane. Somewhat surprisingly, the council willingly handed over the reigns to the youth once he came of age. Outside of governmental reform, the long awaited Tunean and Tunisian war comes about. The Tunisians were struck unexpectedly, thinking that they would be the ones to make the first move.

Wisely, the aggressive King Nemp attacks Tunis with the full might of the experienced Tunean Navy, crushing the modest Tunisian military navy, and completely shutting them out from any trade they might need. The Tunisian economy quickly began a downwards spiral, finally settling in a continuous downwards slump. This severely disable their ability to equip for the Tunean invasion they knew was coming. They were able to mount no counterattack, and simply dug in and waited for an attack.

And indeed, an attack came. A force of nearly 1000 Tuneans landed on the beaches of Tunis, led with a vengeance by their beloved King Nemp. While they met with some initial success, they were bogged down and outnumbered. Then, out of nowhere, Nemp led a glorious charge out of a hopeless military situation. He was unfortunately killed in the now famous ‘Charge on the Beaches’ and god like reverence is rising for him in the home island of Sicily.

Perhaps hoping to overcome his father, King Hafx also died campaigning in Tunis, although it was not without his myriad successes. A final push against the crumbling Tunisians was led by the young King Kane, illustrating to them the utter hopelessness of their situation. Finally, under the negotiation of King Plotomac and the Tunean Council the Tunisians accepted, for their lives, a state of vassaldom and the annexation of several North African territories to the Tuneans.

The Tuneans also expanded quite proficiently up and down the Italian peninsula, yet meeting some resistance against the previously unknown Latin tribes. Tune is fast approaching the worlds limelight and a potential golden age…

In other news, a moderately advanced Bronze Age civilization has arisen in the Western Mediterranean, namely Iberia. We will see if they come to make any impact in larger world affairs.

Now we venture eastward, into beloved Peloponnesia as Corinthian and Mycenaean tensions have begun to come to a head in conflicts between local farmers, cattle herders, and the various men at arms traveling back and forth between the two nations. The two enemies though are developing into two very distinct nationalities. The Mycenaean’s are quick becoming the hated military power and might of the Mediterranean oppressing their people and enlarging their armed forces at the same time.

On the other hand, the Corinthians, likely following the model of the admired Minoans to the south, have adopted a passive yet organized approach to life, both unifying the various rural villages and enriching their many cities. The Minoans to the south have also begun infrastructure improvements, cultivating the richest and most cultured civilization known to the Bronze Aged world, and rumors are beginning of a massive building project.

Yet again, the Egyptian monarchy seems content to lie upon their haunches and rule their passive subjects. Yet it might be good for their royal continuance if they seek to act fast, and now for soon the Upper Egyptians may prove to be an equal. As well you must watch for the Nubians to the south, fast approaching dominance over the Nile. Strike now, and you may be spared.

The Americas

The now greatly influential Cuban Tribes have finally kicked every last Caribbean tribesmen off of their small island. With the entry of the Olmecs into this war, every remaining spark of native resistance has flickered too a close. The Olmecs were promised Florida, and Florida they took, as their troops marched into the new territory. This will be an extraordinarily difficult territory for them to manage, but it will be worth surrounding the Cubans. The Olmecs were also given the gift of the recurved bow, to say thank you for this help in this Great War.

The world is now bipolar, with the mighty Cubans on one end, and the overwhelming Olmecs, stretching across the entire Caribbean Sea. Perhaps one day, these two will fight for the dominance of the Great Sea. For now though, they are in a state of relative benevolence, peacefully trading their many and varied luxuries back and forth over the sea.
In the North the wealthy Californians have risen, their land is very, very good and plentiful, and for now there is no competition in this area of the world. Their violent policies are not making them too many friends in the surrounding neighborhoods, though this may matter little, due to their overwhelming numerical and economic superiority to even the Pueblo.

And finally,to the far south the South Americans continue their peaceful and somewhat boring colonization of the Andes Mountains.

The Near East

The Albons have established a powerful and wealthy stronghold upon the Mediterranean sea, much to the unhappiness of the Phoenicians, but they dare not anger the much mightier militaristic power of Albon. Also, this has been a great ago for the booming population of Albon, expanding much further to the west than was previously mapped. A new imperial policy of saving the best grain each year and replanting it, though previously much derided by the native populace has proved amazingly fruitful, much to the disgust of the multitude of elders who had previously derided the “ Imaginatively Stupid’’ new plans, removing some of their credibility. Their economy, territory, and population have much appreciated the plan.

They have also began attempts to trade with Assyria to the south, but alas they have not succeeded too much due to its current state of semi-anarchy.

The Monarchy has also been drafting up leagues of workers to pan the Euphrates & Tigris Rivers for gold. Alas, they have found little but myriad alligator bites, much to the displeasure of the various workers.
A spate of violent civil wars have hit the previous Assyrian power house, marking a ripe time for any of it’s number of enemies to fatally strike. Momentarily the warlord
Ajax of Tersh has arrived, providing some sort of rule, precarious as it may or may not be. There is no end in sight to this plight…

Finally, the Phoenicians have established a number of Spanish colonies upon the Eastern coastline, as well as several North African ones. They sought to seek some sort of toehold in Sicily, but they were easily denied by the mighty Tuneans. The Mediteranean may enter an era of previously unknown prosperity as the peace minded Tuneans and Phoenicians continue an influx of trade all around the territory. Perhaps this will not be an age of war as previously predicted…

Asia

And finally, several island civilization have arisen on two major islands in East Asia. The first is the Jomoni Japanese population, who due to a recent population explosion have recognized the need for a military and some sort of organized government. The man they chose was Emperor Kyūya of the Fukada Dynasty. He has so far been a fair and honest ruler, giving the Japanese people many reasons to believe they are in good times. Their only possible enemy is the newly sown Korean civilization to their West. The Koreans are significantly more warlike than their Japanese counterparts for now, yet nowhere near as technologically advanced or populated.

The Japanese may soon look to annex the growing Korean threat, and it is quite likely the Koreans feel the same way toward their neighboring friends, the Japanese. The Japanese people though have developed a new and advanced type of ship the equivalent of a “Trireme’’ as the Greek word goes. The Korean navy will be hard matched to defeat this kind of technology.

Also, the Taiwanese to the south have developed an at last unified state, covering their entire island. They were unified by King Shang’s predecessor Grand Lord Wang. They have also begun building up their navy. Is this perhaps setting the scene for a grand naval conflict in the South China Sea? Then, in a surprising twist, the Shang monarchy has begun pouring money and gold into a new Great Library, intended to protect the many cultural and literature gems of East Asia. It has also jumpstarted the production of prodigious amounts of new religious and pure literary material from their many authors and artist, hoping for inclusion in the Great Library once it is finally completed.
Round Up The Germanics have continued their European advance, yet still resisting any form of civilized touch. Their ReikGard have become the terror of all of the surrounding barbarian chiefdoms.
The Nabateans have continued an extensive advance into the newly claimed land of Arabia, encountering little to no competition.

NPC DIPLOMACY

From: The Olmecs
To: Cuba
Perhaps we can send out explorers together for further partition of Caribea?

From: Etrusca
To : Tune
We are going to have to politely ask you to desist in your advance up the Italian Peninsula and leave our Latin Allies to themselves. Feel free to expand anywhere else, but we ask you to let Italy to itself. You may remain in the south of Italy.

From: Pheonicia
To : Tune
What say you we found joint colonies in France and Illyria? It is a strong economic possibility for us both.

OOC Stuff
First off, I’m adding population this turn, as several of you asked me to do. I really didn’t see to much of a need, but seeing how player oriented I want to be, I relent.

Secondly, please send in more orders. I didn’t get several orders and the last minute ones I got were rather half baked. Flavius, if you don’t send in orders next turn, your NPC’d. You have a very powerful position for a rather limited time! Take advantage! Everyone, just get orders in and this will be even more fun than it usually is.

Then finally I’m giving bonus points for good stories. I need some! Also extra bonus points for good creation and religion stories. I would like to flesh out this worlds background a lot more than it already is, and this has some potential. I’m really excited about our new Asian players! If we can just get another Mediterranean and American player, I’ll be very happy with the way things are going. Tell your friends!
If your in a war or need clarification, just talk with me on AIM

Best Written Orders: Justo, fairly easily. I absolutely love your dynastic information you write each turn, and I hope it continues! *hint* nice moves subduing Tunis. If they would’ve become you know what while they were still powerful, you would have a very formidable enemy indeed.
Honorable Mention(s) : The Loser – Nice war info
Luckiest Break: Abbadon – I write my NPC stuff hand in hand with my wiki info before orders are sent. If Assyria hadn’t fallen into some anarchy around this time historically, you would’ve been dead meat
Honorable Mentions : Charles Li

Let the Next turn… begin!

OOC: Great Update. I will continue to post the progression of Tunean leaders .;) My plan all along was to try to swiftly knock Tunis out. :p

To: Etrusca
From: Tune

While your nation is a valued trading partner of Tune and we hope a great friend we will continue to expand in Italy as we please. Expansion will allow our nation to continue to grow our trade which is not just beneficial to Tune but also to Etrusca.

To: Phoenicia
From: Tune

We believe creating trading posts in both of these regions could be quite beneficial to our nations. The Tunean economy requires more resources to continue its growth and we believe these resources could be aquired from these regions.

To: Tunis
From: Tune

The terms of your subservience to Tune are as follows:

1. Tunis's army will not exceed anymore than 50% of Tunes army. E.G. Tune has 1000 Spearmen Tunis cannot exceed 500 Spearmen. The same goes with archers.

2. Tunis's navy will not exceed anymore than 50% of Tunes navy. As above.

3. Tunis will send a constant supply of slaves as tribute to Tune and at least 1000 slaves will be tributed to Tune every 200 years. (1 EP tribute every 2 turns)

4. All Tunisian lands currently held by Tune in Africa will be returned to Tunis.

5. The Tunisian colony on Sardina(I think that's what it's called) will be ceded to Tune.

6. In the advent of war against Tune, Tunis will send at least 50% of its army and navy(If required) to combat enemies of Tune.

7. In the advent of war against Tunis, Tune vows to defend Tunisian lands with everything available.

8. Tunis is free to expand in Africa as it wishes however expansion on any Islands throughout the Meditteranian will not be allowed.

9. In times of war Tunis may request that its army and navy be allowed to exceed the 50% size limit. Tune reserves the right to allow this depending on the situation at the time so long as the Tunisian army and navy is returned to 50% of Tunes military size after war is over.

All points must be accepted with the exception of point 3 which may be negotiated or nulled in return for less resistance for the other points. However if Tunis has any requests or amendments it wishes to make it is free to voice them but Tune will ultimately decide the final terms of this agreement.

Failure to find acceptible terms will result in the continuation of the war between Tune and Tunis.
