it seems like conflicting information is out- soem reports indicate thatg the temple if Zeus is a main game feature- others say it is only conquest only- can anyone shed some light on this?(as a classic based Greco-Roman Polytheist, I'm eager to build that temple!)

Well Xen, if they aren't in the main game, you could just mod it like you will be doing with cataphracts.

im fairly certain that i read in the FAQ at Civ3.com that the temple of zeus is a main game feature im gonna go check that out right now....

nevermind my guess is now just as good as yours as it says nothing about whether or not the temple of zeus is in the epic game or not.... false alarm

If I end up modding it, thats okay, but you see the more I mod, the less compatible I am with other people over the internet- I have not taken advantage of multiplayer yewt, but if this expack can get multi going smoothly, I'd like to... which is why I dislike modding to be honest...

From the Civ site's FAQ:
"Are features from the Conquest scenarios available in the main game?
Since the Conquests are self-contained, many technologies, units, civilizations, and other features can be found only in a specific Conquest. For instance...
...That said, many features created for the Conquests were brought over to the Epic Game. Examples include abilities such as enslavement and stealth attacks, wonders such as the Knights Templar and the Statue of Zeus, and the unique units for each of the new civilizations."

So, there is a Statue of Zues.

Besides which, the screenshot from the Statue of Zeus civilopedia entry has the regular (updated) Ancient Age tech tree behind it, not a scenario one.

I wonder why this Wonder doesn't become obselete?

I can imagine having an Ancient Cavalry appear every 5 years in the Modern Times could be a little disconcerting for the tourists, apart from the redundant gameplay.

Maybe they could stop 'appearing' with the construction of a Pentagon?

Thats odd. There's no mention in the Civilopaedia screenshot for the Wonder (and it appeared relatively complete).

Have you a source for that info available?

probably the same way culture from wonders work, except with money

I really hope they don't ruin the game with wonders that require luxury resources ;)

the satue of Zeus at Olympia, one of the Great wonders of the ancient world, and technically a neutral greek city, was more or less in Spartan territory (hence a millitary bonus) was constructe of ivory, and gold, and its builder, the same as the great designer and builder of the Parthenons great statue of Athena, the wonderful Phidias, developed a revolutionary way of litterally unraveling Ivory in to natural sheets by boiling them in oil, they were then very flexible, and could be worked into the shapes needed - then then could dryed, and would harden into those worked shapes- this said, I'm glad wonders now have nausience in them in which for some of them at least, they will require resources to build them...not to mention it is historically accurate :D

I think that he was commenting on the fact that ivory was located under the strategic reasources list when in hte main game ivory is a luxory resource. Although changing some luxory resources to strategic ones would make room for more luxory resources on the city table.

I was looking at civ3.com and it said:

More Wonders: Build 5 all new wonders, including the statue of Zeus and the even all new commerce bonuses

BTW have you seen the new screens of civ3.com?
There is the info of Zeus.
And there is also a unit on the Alphabet, it's lock like a ship...
