  • No, that's not me (wish it was, though!). That's British actress Lalla Ward, as she looked when she played Romana in Doctor Who. I have been told that I resemble her, though.

what's up mate? ... how is your weekend going? . .. mine .. really good actually . . . in a couple of hours once more... the drinks will start calling me :D
I hang around mostly in bars with my friends... I have to confess that I'm drinking almost everyday... I have to check that out ... :p
I know Verbose would have better answers for you than I would, for probably both English-language and Swedish-language books.

The ones I thought of off the top of my head are the (dated, loquacious, and halfway off topic) Durant series, the History of Civilization. Frankly, I'm not really aware of many general histories that cover the whole period. Unless you want, say, textbooks. There are some very good topical works and country-specific things that I can point you towards in most of that period, but I'm not familiar with overarching stuff like that.

Probably the closest I would get are Dupuy's old Encyclopedia of Military History for most of the military events (slightly dated and superficial but it covers everything) and Findlay and O'Rourke's Power and Plenty for economic and social matters. Good short work on the diplomatic/political history of Europe during the last part of the period is Black's European International Relations 1648-1815.
I guess. :) A lot of the current 'old' moderators will recall me and what type of moderator I was. :) I believe I was 37th user registered when the site moved to this forum.
@yared94: I quit being a mod in 2002 I believe. I was spending way too much time on here. I was the first person to reach the 4'000 post mark and after quitting the mod job I severely slow down in my posting- I believe I have about 5'500 right now.
What's that animal on your avatar? For some reason, I see something laughing in the manner it demonstrates its jaws.
