I like your idea for the harbour piers - but you could edit them a bit I think (like in simcity3000 or simcity4 )

I know the harbour isn't very good, to tell you the truth, I made them as the last, and I was really tired when I did it

Prehaps you can add some cars/containers/barrels to your harbour so it gets more detailed... i think then they will also be quite good. Ad iy possibel a pier as lm coast would also look quite good...(there you can land on the transports... or whatever... problem is landunits wont enter.... )
