Probably the most simple and useful advice I got early on was to attach a warlord to a scout/explorer to create a super medic.

rushing a capitol early....hands down ...never would have figured out on my own and it works flawlessly and always gives me a powerhouse in the empire.

Build a bigger stack!

oh yea, And add elephants!

Use Slavery! I always avoided it because I was always fighting with my happy limit as it is. And it seems like the time it takes to grow each population is forever. Then I found that they grow back much faster after the whip than the first time. Or so I perceive it to be.

Read "The Power of Sushi."

never take ghandi as a vassal unless he is down to 2 cities.

always prepare a rush. even if you don't do it, it keeps you from getting sacked.

you don't need early wonder or quit - let the AI build it for you and take it from them.

espionage is not just something to see what techs rivals research. use your spies! and correctly.

read "The power of sushi"

read "aggressive subsidies and trading practices"

lastly...

LEARN HOW TO STAGGER CHOPS/WHIPS. i was stuck at noble until i learned it, and im now a monarch. im still not as good as i want to be, but i learned how to pre-chop forests to 1 turn in anticipation of wonder-rushing or settler building.

To train a worker asap was an advise that helped me a lot to go from Warlord to Prince.

Scouts and Explorers can't get the Woodsman III promotion, a powerful promotion that gives an extra +15% healing to units in the same tile, and an additional 2 First Strikes that increase the odds of it surviving. It's much better to use on a regular melee unit(gunpowder later).

If it isn't Boroque, don't fix it.

The reason someone suggested a scout/explorer as super medic is since it cannot attack in a stack formation it is less likely to be destroyed inadventently in offense or defense. So I assume you have been succesful using a gunpowder super medic? Do you ad a great general to a unit or use combat promotions to get a superior medic?

I've used axmen as woody III / MedicIII GG super-medic unit. Handy when you're fighting a war across the sea and can re-enforce only slowly. Put some better defenders with woodsmen promos in the stack to protect the medic.

never fight a land war in asia
