I really like both ideas. an option that dynamicall changes the difficulty level every x turns depending on how you're doing would be awesome.

Starting at monarch and ending in diety ... I love this idea!

Did anyone manage to count just how many spoilers were in that one post? sheesh :p

BTW, did you set it up to check lowest net score, or lowest player score? I mean, could I cheat by forming an alliance with the guy in last place to give myself JUST enough points to claim first place, switch to my now-teammate, and STILL be in first for an easy 1-2 combo?
I don't know, but s not exactly a contest, its a feature to add challenge. You would really only be ching yourself; you don't have even turn the mode on.

they do have to get to version 1.00 after all
:) i wonder what that will be like :crazyeye:

It wouldn't work as well as it sounds. The big difference with deity, is that they start with an extra settler. And the difficulty settings also slow you down. But you can still get a huge leg up on them during the Monarch period, even if it fairly quickly goes to Deity (Even like, by turn 100, normal speed). At which point, sure, they build faster and grow faster, but you've juiced a Monarch speed based economy. No problem.

As for there being clans of goblins you can kill...does this mean we can finally kill those damn invisible Muris Clan goblins that keep defiling my lands? I've got a bone to pick with them...

I've got a hell of a bone to pick with them. That event ~pisses me off~. I had it trigger twice on the same tile near my capital by turn 60, permanently turning one of my nice grassland tiles into a useless tile. There seriously needs to be a way to reverse the damage...

What if instead of giving -1 food on the tile, it turned the tile into tundra? Then at least it would be fixable late game with Vitalize, but more importantly would never trigger on the same tile twice, and never reduce a tile to 0 food.

By version 1.0, casting Dominate actually dominates the player at the PC, allowing the archmage to play for the civ. Its really just an obvious extension to this High to Low concept...

=P actually triggering on the same tile twice isnt as bad as triggering on 2 different tiles on the same city. You can simply use another tile, or set a specialist. Triggering on 2 diff tiles on the same city causes an overall 2 food reduction if u use both tiles and 1 if you dont use one.

right, but you could set it so that the bonuses to production, research etc. for the AI go way over those they get at deity right now. actually, I think this is how difficulty level SHOULD work in the first place. the starting bonuses are a lame concept imho, and they kinda force the player to certain gameplay styles on higher-level difficulties. i.e. you HAVE TO conquer a neighbour very early, else you have no chance at all cuz of the AI starting with a crapload of bonuses. I'd much rather have them start on the same level as the human player, and get buffs all throughout the game to make up for the AI dumbness.

I CHOOSE TO BELIEVE!!!

Haha....

If I had to guess, I'd say the Illian UU's, UB's, and world spell will be included but NOT the special mechanic that defines the civ (like vamps/Calabim, shades/Sidar, tolerant/Elohim). I'm naturally assuming that the Illians were left for last because with whatever's special about them, it takes a lot of tricksy programming to figure out.

Considering that they are led by the god who had dominion over the world at one point, causing the Age of Ice, and is bent on returning to his former glory, subsequently becoming the first god that could actually appear in the game, yeah I'd expect a good deal of tricky programming.
