0.34 Game Test - The Illians

Nothing that would be found on little girls bedroom wall will ever be in FFH or for a better explanation read this

Wow, Illians are going to be fun...

Looks like Kael's favorite mana is Death by far - how on Erebus did you get 11 nodes!?! Do none of the native Illian units have Ice affinity?

Ha! I was thinking about giving Colonization a test drive. NOT. It will sit on a shelf collecting dust. ;)

Actually I was a bit disappointed of Colonization (basically ol'good col in new graphics but with some gameplay features REMOVED not added! And a lot of minor bugs/disbalance features), so I suggest you to wait for a few colonization patches and enjoy our beautiful FFH2.
It even inspired me to start modelling stuff (and thanks to seZ for an answer) so I'm going to move from Wings 3d to 3ds max and to start unit making myself to contribute to this great game.

My wraiths were HUGE!!!

Something just occurred to be. Whatever that Samhein thing is, it must be crazy early game, considering it's available from turn 0, at least for the Illians. o.O

Samhain is a traditional Irish/Celtic celebration, equivalent in modern terms to Halloween. It's a harvest festival, but it's also a sign of the impending winter. That makes a lot of sense as an Illians-only project, and completion of Samhain might be required for the Illians to begin with any of their other wintry madness.

That's what I was thinking. If you note the 4th picture, you see that the area around the capital is now ice and snow when it was clearly grassland before. I'd venture a guess that Samhain is how you get your "starter" ice, and blizzards in tow of your Priests of Winter are how you get it to spread. The real question is, can the Illians build improvements on top of snow? If not, it'll be tricky timing the ritual to get as much improved as possible

It seems odd to me that Wilbomon, who is so weak to fire, would use Orthus's fiery axe.

I just noticed that Drifa, as a dragon, still has the Breathe Fire spell. I'm hoping that this will be changed to something more appropriate, as I can't really see an Ice Dragon coughing up fireballs/meteors. Personally, I'd rather dragons have a "Dragon's Breath" spell which could keep the same icon but would change from creating a meteor to being a direct damage spell similar to Pillar of Fire, but with an appropriate damage type for each dragon. I suppose that Fire is fine for all the others, but Drifa's version should definitely be in Cold.

Actually, I'm thinking Fire might be inappropriate for Abashi too, as the last time she was in the world fire was still a holy weapon that would hurt only the evil, and she was always on the side of evil, not good. Plus her animation show her breathing only smoke and fumes, not flame. Maybe her breath weapon should be in Unholy, Death, or Poison (or some combination?) instead. I'm thinking fire is fine for Eurabatres, but Holy and Poison would work too (his pedia mentions both fire and acid). Obviously, only Fire makes sense for Acheron.

hold on....he's got us squealing like 15 year old girls?

Does that mean that FFH2 needs to be wrapped up because of the Princess rule! Noooooooooooooooooo!

No, we just have to be put in chains.

good call on the dragonbreath issue, Magister. indeed, each dragon should get the type of damage that's most appropriate for him/her :D

( I loved my acid-spitting black dragons back in the warlords days  )

Perhaps death nodes get some kind of bonus like earth nodes and he was just testing it.
Or he likes wraiths, alot.

Abashi is a black dragon, and black dragons breath acid.
As for Eurabatres, I was never a fan of the good dragons, but I am pretty sure golds breath fire and a non lethal breath weapon. But then again, in FFH Eurabatres has normal dragon wings so it could be different breath weapons as well.

One of the problems in playing the Illians in previous versions was the lack of a Medic unit and a unit that could cure disease. Agnostic so no priests, disciples, etc. - the Grigori has the late-arriving Medic.

What will the Illians have to meet this need?

Looks like a fun civ to play.

Well, considering how the Priest of Winter in the screenshot clearly has the Cure Disease spell available to it, I believe it is safe to say that that issue has been addressed. We don't know if there is a high priest equivalent though, so they might not have access to Heal.

Something I just noticed: Pic 10 says some of his units went to serve the Mercurials. How is that possible? Shouldn't only good units go to the Mercurials, and Auric is evil?

That happens whenever you raze a good city because it was technically in your hands for a moment before the razing.

I'm not sure, but if the Infernals are not in the game and Basium is, I've noticed a portion of killed units, regardless of their alignment, seem to go to the Mercurians.

Vice-versa too.
