1.52 Patch Available

:hmm: Then you better build the pyramids to get representation and quick!

You don't get an option to delete saved games if you are running a pbem game - if you do effectively you kill a game that has been running for months!

Can I reiterate it is our belief that NO ONE is running a mod in this game - so the error is eroneous, hence i'd be interested in a Firaxian view or whether it does indicate a mod is running and more importantly what the solution is.

New patch does not resolve CTDs. Matter or fact they're worse.

I Uninstalled completely then reinstalled. I could not get the Automatic Update function to work until I installed v1.09 and then set it to windowed mode. At that point, I did an automatic update, which did work fine, but once I had the v1.52 installed, no games will initiate. All I get is a White Box stating Runtime Error.

This is worse than the original vanilla version. At least it loaded a game occasionally and then, CTDed. Up until now, Hark's patch w/v1.09 seemed to be doing the trick for me, but the documentation stated not to use "unofficial" patches. Well, for me the "UNOFFICIAL" patch works better than the "OFFICIAL" crap patch.

I'm gonna try reinstalling thru v1.09, installing Hark's patch, then Auto-updating over the combination of the two of them, to see if that works for me.

if you have a clean initial install, then
are these patches cumulative so you only need to load the latest one?
or do you have to load them in order?

The patch is screw up my game...:(

the game start (XML uncached) after patched to v1.52 + weird Text everywhere!:(

In addition, a new config file (ini) option called 'MemorySaver' has been added for further memory reduction, at the cost of alt-tabbing support. If you set MemorySaver=1 in the config file, you can lower your system memory usage by 70% of video memory. So if you have a 128MB video card, you can save an additional ~90MB of system memory. MemorySaver defaults to off, and is not officially recommended since it doesn't handle alt-tabbing and other cases of graphics device loss at this time. However, we recognize that some users may want to experiment with it.

I cannot find this option in any of the "config" ini files which I have looked in under my Civ 4 folders. Can anyone tell me exactly which file this is (the exact folder and where in the file this might appear??)

Because I am pretty sure I am looking at the config ini file right now, with various settings set to =0 or =1, and I do not find this option anywhere. And yes, I am certain that I have already updated to version 1.52 as it states that I am using version 1.52 when i look at build information from within the civ game.

Wow, I'm very impressed at how much is being patched, fixed, and improved, in such a short amount of time. And it's not 100% of what I would wish for, but it's all in the right direction. Good job!

when they say its an option, that might mean that its not normally there
at all, and you have to add a line specifying it. I haven't gotten the patch
yet, so I can't confirm this.

When I ran v1.09 with the latest nvidia drivers, I experienced the common problem people had of an EXTREME drop in performance. Since I wanted v1.09, I just used a system restore point to undo my nvidia patch and every thing was all "honky dory."

Does anyone who had this problem before know if v1.52 will run well with the newest nvidia drivers?

Is there a way to turn off the automatic graphics altering every time I enter the game?
I want to keep the animations yet it turns it off automatically.
And, for some reason, the game crashed... for the first time ever. that was sad.

My one complaint with the patch is that custom assets no longer work in MP games.

In some ways this is for the better, as it was possible to use python to query for and display information that should not have been available to the player - for example an "all seeing" military advisor.

However, I really miss the clock mods I had been using which always displayed the time, the game date and the turn number.

I just installed and tried it out...well, with 1Gb memory now and this patch I can finally proceed to play my AW in modern age on standard map.

I am also happy that a bug that was mentioned by myself under the bug page was fixed. however, it was done only 1/2 :(
It's about the health bar and exp points during combat for single units. Now, the health bar won't show, but the exp points till jump immediately. Well, there will be always another patch..and for the Firaxians

go and enjoy your xmas now, you all deserve it :xmas:

bah, i just get patches of forest and black everything else:mad:

I used to get that until I updated my video driver. After that, my forests and jungles are black, but everything else is okay.

After installing this patch, my black forest jungle video hasn't changed. However, I now MUST run the game in low resolution. Otherwise, I get constant video memory crashes. Even in low, I'm still getting occassional crashes.

I like the ingame changes, but the CTDs are very annoying.

Did anyone else catch the line in the patch notes about units now using their MAX strength in combat in lieu of their current one??? I haven't played yet, but if that is true, that is by far the biggest gameplay change.

If this works as advertised, it definitely will make it a lot harder to kill a strong unit with 2 or 3 weaker ones. I'm not sure if I like that, but I think it makes sense in the context of the game.

actually, with the patch I'm seeing quite a bit more "Weak Unit Slaughters Buff Unit".

Macemen were taking down my cavalry.

Not sure of the raw numbers though. The cav may have been weakened, but it didn't seem like it to me.
