1.52 Patch Available

There has to be good connections between the forums and Firaxis!

The Patch isn't even up on the official Civ4 website to download, and here I am downloading it from page 6 here.

Here's hoping, then!

Wonder/Victory movies not fixed for me. What was that about "seperate download"?

Everyone complaining about crashes to desktop, bear in mind that your old options profiles were obliterated by the patch, and need to be re-created (so you may have to reset your graphics settings to low).

hehe well the patch your downloading from me isn't strait from Firaxis lol. When i downloaded it ingame it actually saved a hard copy of the patch in My Documents folder... so I uploaded it to my server :P

I just started a new thread for it cause i am heading to bed and can't keep pointing ppl to page 6 :P

Ok, Ive finally got the game to run on a huge map (not great in late game but it works) by using Hark's patch and some messing with the Ini. What I want to know is it worth moving up to this patch? I mean does it work better than Hark's patch? His patch helped, but didn’t do as much as I had hoped. I STILL have to restart the game or change resolution to speed it up after about 30 minutes or directly after diplomatic encounters/wonder movies. I am playing my first game on a huge map and already, at 1200AD, slowdown is becoming pretty bad. I downloaded patch 1.09 and the game was slower than before! So has anyone had good results with this new patch who had similar problems to mine prior to installation? I would really, really like to play this game at the speed the game was meant to run at!!!!! My computer exceeds the Mins, and in some cases the recs.... I should be able to run this thing at better than 3-5 fps! I am at work now so I can’t download this patch, but if it isn’t worth it I'd rather not mess with it when I get home; though I really hope it helps.

I loaded the V152 patch. Blue Marble was still on the intro screen but the terrain was vanilla. I redownloaded and reinstalled Blue Marble. But terrain still vanilla. Any ideas? Am I now messed up for trying?

I think ColdFever needs to update it with each new patch release.
The last version of BlueMarble (V102) should continue to work unmodified after patching (apart from multiplayer, because Firaxis wants to protect this mode from changes). If BlueMarble does not work for you in SP there has to be another problem.

Please try this:

-choose "List affected files" from the BlueMarble installer. Does the installation directory under "My Games" bear the same "main" name as the Civ installation directory? If not, then there is a problem, perhaps with a parallel installation.

- try to run the BlueMarble installer from the Civ installation directory. The BlueMarble installer then ignores any problematic values in the Windows registry and computes the installation directory from the current directory.

- as a matter of last resort you can copy the contents from the BlueMarble installation directory directly into the Civ installations "Assets" directory. But beware - this way you *overwrite* any conflicting original data.

Anybody else with similar problems?

i think the patch is causing problems with mulitplayer games..... no one is able to connect to peers

Doesn't work for me. The game crashes consistently upon loading a game. They're not CTD's either. Just plain crashes which require a hard reboot. It used to do this before too, but only on new games. Loading existing games would work fine. Not any more however. Any advice would be appreciated... :(

I think this is the patch we were all waiting for!!

d'l'ed, installed, no probs. Set up my options the way I like 'em. And... I'm driving to my parents for Xmas, no PC capable of playing Civ4 down there (I'm not going to try things on with the work laptop I have), so I won't be able to try it out 'til the 27th/28th

edit: Ok, it looks like they have done something to change the scoring as now land doesn't count toward your final score until you have had control of it for 20 turns. I suspect this won't solve the scoring problem....

That's to stop a MP exploit where the player can jump ahead in score using an end-of-game settler/Great Artist rush.

Patch plays well, is also fairly decent on High settings. Fixed some graphical issues I had but still have choppy Wonder movies. Can't have everything I guess.

This looks awsome. You know it's going to be good when you read down the change list and like nearly every single one!

Good job Firaxis!

This really has made a great difference. I'm right at the minimium spec suggestion and while this game ran before, it runs so much better now. Awesome Christmas gift.

Yeap which really stinks. Please Firaxis fix multiplayer ASAP.

edited: I have found a two games I could join as other noted they could too. Don't know what it is that makes some games so hard to join yet.
