14th of June Patchnotes

- Main Menu now contains an option to activate/deactivate specific DLCs.
- Quick combat and Quick Movement options are now part of the Options menu and can be changed during gameplay.
- Options menu now contains "Skip intro video."

Praise the Lord!!

The rumors from beta testers were true. Turns take much longer now. My turn are taking 5-6 seconds on the very first turn. I think they may have made this unplayable. I'm actually quite worried about Gods and Kings now.

turns are taking longer, but I don't really mind too much. Not as important, they seem to have made the civilopedia much neater, especially the game concepts page.

*Patch Gripe*

Started a new game as Hiawatha in the Future Era. France declared on me and several turns of stalemate MI battle back and forth I ask for peace and he wants everything from me. Next turn, he offers me everything he has. I thought this was fixed!

New patch, same vanilla issues. Not impressed so far. Same <snip>, different day with this game and can vouch for the turn times. At his rate, mid-late game on a Standard Size map with a decent amount of Civs/CS, I'll be able to walk from NJ to CA and back and if I'm lucky, it'll be my turn.

The neater Civilopedia doesn't mean a thing if it takes a few minutes between each turn, perhaps more. The "window dressing" features shouldn't mean more than the actual gameplay. Some new adviser clothes, a couple of new loading screens and a few minor features will pale in comparison if you can go to Olive Garden for a full course meal and come back and still be waiting for your turn.

Moderator Action: EDIT: I can edit too. Yours removed.

Let me try this out a moment.

Haha, quoting myself
I'm actually taking this back.
I've played about 100 turns so far, and the game feels so much smoother.
Reward popups/ technology popups appear a lot faster, going from unit to unit is a lot faster and I do not need to click on the next button anymore..it feels great!

So, I was playing a game as the Danes and now suddenly I am the Mongols.

It would be kinda nice if they warned you before they release a patch like that so I can turn off steam's automatical patching before my saves get eaten up.

" Options menu now contains "Skip intro video." "

So about time...

But the real question is, is this patch available for the Mac. ;-)

Noticed a couple of things, good and bad -

The Good -
Trading Posts look good
Ability to queue units attacks is great

The Bad -
Attack from cities unit death animation seems to have disappeared
Can't move the screen when a melee attack is going on.
!?'Unique advisor portraits per era now show up for the advisor counsel screens and advisor info screens' (Seems to look no different to me).

I'm sure i'll spot some others soon.

That warning was posted 19 hours ago, that's not even a day.
Why don't they leave a message like that directly in steam? Or release a small patch that adds a little message to the main menu saying that there will be a patch soon that kills save games.

Why not set your Steam Options to Manual Update. Then you will never have to worry about it again.

Manually updating all steam games sounds incredibly tedious.
But okay I'm not saying anymore.
Haha on to my third try of finally finishing a game with the Danes.

  • Still can't use mods in multiplayer
  • Still don't have the option of turn based multiplayer
  • Still have to deal with stupid AI
  • Still have to deal with even stupider AI in multiplayer
  • Still no patched in-locked DLC content so players can use it with players who can't
  • Still no balance changes
  • Still not buying Gods and Kings

I have the same problem. The game is much slower now. How do I undo this patch? It was much less bad before.

Any idea when the Mac version of the patch will be available on the App Store?

Civ is still managed through Steam on the Mac. I don't know of any ability to get patches through the app store - I assume this functionality does not exist. On Steam, patches download automatically when you open Steam.

As for when it comes for Mac, Aspyr has to port the patch over. In the past, it has taken some time. I did get a mac patch today, but I haven't been able to fire up the game. It could be the full patch or just a small patch to add an advertisement for G&K.
