Hi there :)

I have been encountering a really annoying problem when playing Civ IV, and also a problem with Windows Media Centre, which I believe may be related.

Basically, when my Civ IV games get into the 20th century they tend to crash once the end of turn and new city build commands have completed. The error message returned says something like:

"There is not enough video memory...try reducing your graphics settings."

Sometimes I can play many 20th century turns before it happens, sometimes it happens every turn. It also happens whether I reduce the graphics to low or keep them on high, whether I play on a huge map or a small one. There is no real pattern other than it only happens when the game is in the late stages and demanding the most of my comp. This means that I never get to complete games once they've got into their final, deciding, winning phase. Grrr.

This is quite bizarre, because I hardly keep anything on my computer's hard drive. Just about everything is on an external drive. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the whole situation, in which case kindly enlighten me and suggest how I might solve this.

The Media Centre problem, which may be related, happens only with moving images. Still images are fine on it. When playing DVDs (which I hardly ever do on this programme) or watching TV on this programme there is a flickering green colour all over the screen, which behaves in relation to the moving image.

Any ideas, oh tech savvy ones?
