brewers are making it really hard for themselves to consider trading prince. what happens july 31 if the brew crew are still in 1st place?

I'd trade him for about 5 prospects if he will not stay for a reasonable price... which isn't likely IMO.

I'm a die-hard Phils fan... but I enjoy watching the Reds and the Brewers. Also the Indians and A's (before their lose-every-game-slumps).

I enjoy watching good, non-one sided Baseball. Period.

Great slide into home plate by Darwin Barney last night. Maybe that's how it's meant to be done :mischief:

Yep. But catchers can block the plate at their own peril. I used to prefer (as a catcher) the go-to-the-ball (like receivers in football) and come back to the plate with a sweeping tag (if it a bang-bang play) or a shin guard/ball in glove two-hand slam into the runner tag (if have time). That way the catcher delivers the blow instead of receiving it ;) .

Yah. And yet it still seems out of place to me that if the catcher puts a foot wrong and gets injured by 275 pounds of Brewer first baseman throwing himself bodily at the opposing player, somehow the defenders of baseball see it as the catcher's fault.

Actually, we're probably done with this one now - I just loved Barney's slide, and it made a perfect counterpoint to the Cousins & Fielder crap from earlier. If you want to throw one last swing back my way then we can call it quits, and move onto something else.

I'm with you 100%, though I may be a little biased in the matter :p

phils swept away the marlins yesterday. i love double-headers :) marlins look shell-shocked. i know they're struggling but they just have that look of pre-determined defeat on their faces.

Karma, baby. I think they've lost something like 13 of their last 14 since Cousins hit Posey.

So even after stumbling off into the sunset, Manny continues to be Manny. Actually, he hasn't done anything new, but the deferred money the Dodgers still owe him could be the straw that breaks McCord's back:
Dodgers owner Frank McCourt needs about $30 million to make his team's payroll June 30, a critical indicator that a confrontation between McCourt and Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig over the future of the team could loom by month's end.

McCourt is expected to meet the Dodgers' payroll Wednesday, according to three people briefed on the matter but not authorized to discuss it.

The Dodgers owe about $10 million in payroll Wednesday, according to one of the people, but that figure roughly triples for the June 30 payment as several deferred salaries come due, including more than $8 million to Manny Ramirez.

The Dodgers appear to have "no chance" to meet the June 30 payroll without a cash infusion from a new television contract, according to a person familiar with McCourt's finances but not authorized to discuss them. If McCourt misses payroll, Selig could make the payments for him, seize the team and put it up for sale.

How far we have come from 'Mannywood'...

The Marlins have lost 14 of their last 15. But if you really want to see where things are going bad, it had to be when JC Romero set them down in order that 1 inning. Something's gone hideously wrong when JC Romero has a 123 inning against you.

That said, the Phils waived Romero and DFAed him yesterday.

Cliff Lee pitched a nice 2-hit shutout yesterday, only struck out 4 batters though.

@Owen
bro, you should set your fantasy team up some. remarkably, you are in 3rd place and have been beating teams that are furiously trying to move up the ranks :)

lol! That's hilarious. I haven't really been paying attention, mostly because I didn't get to draft my own team (time mix-up). Although it might have ended up for the better, since the players I would have drafted are all either injured or rather underperforming.

@dg, would be nice, right?

@Owen, well then, maybe you should continue to be hands off :lol: i would guess there have been some grumbles from those below you in the standings :lol: you're in the thick of it though. couldn't hurt to maybe get some DL guys out of your lineup. up to you though :)

Wait, that's you? You've got a decent squad and you're in 3rd place, you should definitely play. I only narrowly defeated you a few weeks ago. One check in a week is all you really need.

All you need to do before next week is put Longoria back in for Morneau, replace Lyon, and trade me Craig Kimbrel. :)

You're kidding me that a player who has not been paying attention to the league is that high up. :gripe: It seems most of my picks have failed miserably. The ones that are doing good are the ones I had to replace them with. :mad:
