2015 NBA Playoffs

That went as expected, just a lot sooner than I expected. Double Lebron, leave a guy open, bet hey he's all the way across the court; who can make that pass? Oh. Lebron can.

On a side note, I'm embarrassed by my fellow Californians. Chanting "ref you %^$#" after every foul called on the Warriors, many of which were outright muggings that I could have called from here without even having the TV on was bad enough, but the fact is the refs were terrible and the Warriors were getting far and away the best of the bad job they did.

LeBron needs to learn how to clone himself 5 times.

Four would do apparently. Bench? With five Lebrons we don't need no stinking bench! He's playing over 48 minutes a game, and with five Lebrons 48 would certainly be enough. Any team that thinks they could take a five Lebron team to overtime please seek counseling, you are dissociated from reality.

Can LeBron go on playing over 40 min in every game?
I wrote them off already after Irving's injury, I'm currently in the process of changing my mind, if LeBron wills his injured Cavs to Finals Championship then he's better than Jordan.

For all those who posted their predictions here're the standings up to now:

1 classical_hero 18 pts (submitted predictions for first 3 rounds)
2. daft 16 (also 3 rounds)
3 Owen Glyndwr 10 (failed to predict 2nd round)
4 Light Cleric 8 (didn't predict 2nd round)
5 dgfred 4 (predicted only 3rd round)
6 Wrymouth 3 (only 3rd round)
7 BirraImperial 2 (only 2nd round)

The scoring was setup the following way:
1st and 2nd rounds:
2 pts for series winner in correct number of games played
1 pt for series winner (but failing to predict the correct number of games played)

3rd round
2 pts for series winner in correct number of total games
1 pt for series winner only (not in correct number of games)
1 additional point for predicting series winner and thus Conference Champion

Finals
2 points for series winner in correct total games
1 point for series winner only
2 additional points for predicting series winner and thus NBA Finals Champion

You have to give it to Lebron and the Cavs: Battling through injuries and still remaining very competitive right now.

Still say Warriors are gonna win it in 5. They're due for a big win soon, they can't keep missing so much.

How about a team with five (or six) Michael Jordans? :mischief:

And how would either of those teams fare against a team made up of the greatest ten players (other than Jordan/James) ever to play the game? (i.e. with a bench that itself could readily beat either team in the annual AllStar game). With coaching to match, of course.

The five Jordans would get dominated, because even if you give the slight edge in a one on one matchup to a Jordan the Lebrons would play better team defense and better team offense. Also, Lebron is a legitimate five position player, so C Jordan and PF Jordan would be outmatched.

My money would go on the all time all stars for sure though. Even though Lebron can play all five positions you could certainly come up with centers that would dominate against him and guards who would be too quick for him.

Delllllyyyyyy

I have accepted that I underestimated finals experience. There were definitely people mentioning it, but I blew them off, and they might turn out to be right. Mike Miller diving for loose balls, Lebron knowing what the crushing pressure would be like and facing it squarely...while the far better team is crumbling under it. I'm actually thinking the Cavs might up and win this thing just on experience and grit.

The pace of the playoffs and especially the finals is not what the warriors excel at. They like quick basketball, the playoffs operate at a slower pace.

I really don't think the Warriors are that much better. They live and die on Steph and Klay's shooting ability. Putting a larger PG that does great Man to Man Defense and is scrappy is going to slow him down. I actually like the Cavs chances more without Kyrie in this finals.

It almost seems that the Warriors are the team dealing with injuries...horrible game from Curry as well, is he really the MVP?

He's making a good case. When he is off his game the Warriors look pretty mundane, so he is obviously valuable. :)

I think there is plenty to be said for Cleveland's defense though. Committing to "you have one job; guard him, if help comes, keep guarding him anyway, and don't bother with offense" and sticking to it is pretty strong. I was actively watching for it last night, and I didn't see Dellavedova run the court once when the Cavs had the ball. For a guy who is clearly as intense as they come to do that takes a whole level of discipline that is hard to come by.
