2016 NCAA football thread

Auburn is one of those magical teams that makes me feel good when they win and indifferent when they lose, so idc. It was just an opportunity for me to complain about how limited players are when it comes to transferring. I'd support giving players an unencumbered one-time chance to transfer every time they lose their HC, coordinator or position coach . . .

UAB spring practice starts this week, btw . . .

SEC Media Days schedule is out. Alabama on Wednesday, July 13. I didn't see which day Michigan was going to be there . . .

I was too old and missed out on the whole Pokemon thing, but at least now when the younger folks are talking about it I can chime in and say "Ah, yes, Mewtwo was the best Pokemon, right?" So now I'll feel included in their conversation . . .

It has been a great year to be a Big XII fan. Too bad I have been too busy to follow it. My Jayhawks are in town to play Baylor tonight. Tickets are NOT available. I have not been to a bar for a game in years. I might make an exception.

The Jayhawks won. Home team lost. I have mixed emotions. The Hawks will win their 12th league title in a row.

This year is like every other year in that folks are saying Alabama has a chance to make the tourney if we finish well, but in reality we'll finish without an NIT bid. Maybe it does seem a little bit like we could perhaps have a marginally better shot this year, but that's probably just bc I don't really pay attention to basketball . . .

The conference champion (as in, the one that gets the automatic bid in the NCAA tournament) is the one that wins the conference tournament at the end of the year. The last two Big 12 conference tournaments have been won by Iowa State.

Plus, everyone knows Xavier's winning it all this year. :mischief:

Does anyone have any opinions on Michigan having their spring practices at IMG? It doesn't really bother me that they're having them off-campus, but it bothers me a little that they're having them at a high school. I tried to compare it to a team having bowl practices at a high school, but that's a little different since the destination is outside the school's control. Either way I don't think it's a very big deal, I'm just curious what other people think. Because no one else has posted anything about football in like two weeks :p

UAB lost in the CUSA tournament tonight, which means they will be NIT bound, along with Alabama. Alabama and UAB have played in basketball before, but it has been a very long time. I'm sure all you UAB fans won't want to miss it, so I wanted to let you know about the possible matchup as soon as I could . . .

Well, Alabama and UAB are on the same side of the NIT bracket, but we'd need a 5/7 quarterfinal to actually see them play. Maybe next year . . .

You know there is a college basketball thread that could really use some more participation and attention.

And if I knew anything at all about college basketball, I would totally be on that . . .

Given how empty that thread is, even with the tourney upon us, I think just about any participation would be welcome at this point.

Nothing to see here. Seriously, not worth clicking unless you're CFB starved. It's a short bit on CBS about UGA changing its transfer policy under Kirby Smart compared to the unrestricted transfer policy Richt had . . .

To me, restricting a player's ability to transfer is far more inequitable than not paying them, so for me it was interesting . . .

I don't know, the pay thing is now looking extremely inequitable now that I found out that members of the school band can be paid for what they do. Oh, but if the university tries to pay the athletes, the NCAA treats the school like they just sacrifices 100 babies to Satan.
