2016 Winter Patch - Combat AI...?

Well, this thread makes me feel that much better about decision to request a refund for this game before the 2 hours on Steam were up. What I saw in game plus Firaxis history with Civ 5 made it obvious that there were major problems with the game and devs weren't going to address those any time soon, if ever.
 
I find that weird. The city bombards - shouldn't it be based on a ranged unit...?
Ranged attack is based on the best ranged unit, and defense combat is based on the best melee unit.
 
Wow, I had no idea I was in a game where the AI each got an extra settler. That makes me even more disappointed in the AI than I already was.... sigh.
 
On Emperor and Immortal they get an extra settler, Deity they get 2 extra settlers. I hate it and hope they can improve the AI enough so they can remove it from Emperor/Immortal.
Really hate the extra settler on Emperor. I think I'll mod that out when modding tools come. But then again, maybe that's the only difference between King and Emperor, or are the other changes also?

Give the smoother difficulty mod a try. No extra AI settlers at start, except Deity where they get 1. Also scales AI bonuses based on eras. You don't start in such a big hole, but the increased bonuses make it harder to catch up.
