2nd UU and 2nd UB for DoC

Thanks.

If you replace the VD_CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml with the file in the package, the modmodcomp should be compatible with VD.
NOTE: Only if you have both modcomps installed.

Am I supposed to extract that file to Assets/XML/Civilizations? I did that but it hasn't solved the problem :(

Assets\Modules\Varietas Delectat\XML\UnitArtStyles&CivInfos
would be the folder. You should get an overwrite request.

Alright that works, thank you! A quick test showed me the additional content was working.

I did get a couple of XML error messages on starting the mod, though.

"UNIT_INCA_SLINGER in Info class was incorrect" & "UNIT_CONGO_EMBALOS in Info class was incorrect"

Oops.

I based it on the version that I have on my computer. (Which is a newer version) Therefore, it has some changes that are in my version, but aren't in the version you play. I will reupload a properly working version the evening.

EDIT: Something came in between, so I didn't have the time last evening. I'll try to do it this evening. (If nothing will come in between this time ;))

Er...Mine is at rev 450, but actually I can't build 2nd UU and 2nd UB

In the scenerio AD600, I choose China, and I have Drama but can't build Pavilion, later I've researched Alphabet but also I can't build Ancient Cannon.

Do you use VD for DoC? If so, you should download an extra file to make it compatible. (Which can be found here)

If you don't use it, can you still see the extra units/buildings in the civilopedia?

V0.1 of 2nd UB does have an extra UB for each civ.

V0.1 of 2nd UU doesn't have a 2nd UU for each civ yet. 3 Civs have no 2nd UU yet. (Congo, Thailand, Poland) But I have those UU already coded on my computer and will be launched in the next version, which will come soon. (Along with some other changes, which can be seen in the changelog (it's not the complete changelog) in the link in the 2nd post)

merjin, it seems there is something wrong with it.

Mine is svn450, no VD & ECS, both 2nd UU and 2nd UB, when I play as USA, I find the initial units are just 2 grenadiers and 5 settlers, no minutesman or rifleman, and no initial techs. And the other civs are as normal.

I spotted the problem. Thanks for (accidentally) noticing it.

Unzip this package in the python folder.
(it only works if you have both modcomps. A fix for both versions will come soon when the new version will be launched)

It works now, thanks a lot!

By the way, I think Arabian 2nd UU could be Ghazi but not Xebec, Xebec is too late for Arabia.

Ghazi, replace swordsman(or heavyswordsman), double movement in desert and +1 strength

The new version will have a Ghazi as the 2nd UU of Arabia. I have already coded it. The current version only has the Xebec because I didn't have a better one at that time.

Excuse me to bother you again, merjin, but there seems another problem: I've used the file in #231, but the Civilopedia of units becomes blank, like this

Stupid me. I keep using my files as a base, which will corrupt with the dowload version because my files are updated.

This one should be working.

It works now, thank you for reply so quickly!

The 2nd Dutch UB could maybe be an earlier available drydock, instead of the Molen, a forge that gives extra ship production - also because the Dutch gains that instantly whenever they build a city, and I guess a UB is a bit more exciting when you get to build it, and not just have it at all times already.

Doesn't the Mali UB come a bit late, if it's a salt mine? All of this I by the way just from reading the log-files for it, so if those are not up-to-date, my points may not be meaningful :) What did you settle on with regards to the chinese UU? The ancient cannon seems a bit OP, judging from reading about it. Same about the french one, maybe 25% instead should be enough? They would still be very strong.

But all in all a lot of nice ideas, I hope - and think - that Leoreth will include some of these when the time is right.

This modmod is so cool. Keep it going!

But I must ask why Russians dont have any WW2 UU? Prussians have both tank and artillery replaced. Why not giving Russians T34 or another famous wartime unit? Also Im intrested to know where do you get unit models?

Thanks.

The big disadvantage of lategame unit, is that they come very late. So they have very little impact in the game. The early game has a bigger impact on the course of the game than the end game.
And many don't play for so long. I don't want to include an UU that won't be build half of the time because the player doesn't play until that date.

The Prussains have to, because they spawn in the lategame. It does make a difference for them, as it comes into action at the time the Prussian are able to do something.

I do get my art in many different ways. In most cases, I borrowed them from some mods that add lots of new units/buildings. (Rise of Mankind, Realism Invictus, RFCEurope, SoI) I think I got about 80% of the required art by that.
I also look in the database, for a civ specific art. Most of them are reskins of existing models. e.g. for the Dutch Gradist, I just searched for "Grenadier". (And than look for an appropriate Dutch one in the results)
Varietas Delectat also provided some art.
